New York Comic Con 2010 – Hasbro Marvel Captain America and Thor

Hasbro has a good presence at New York Comic Con this weekend, with two display cases in the Marvel booth. It seems like every year is a big movie year for Marvel, and 2011 will feature Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor – this is good news for Hasbro as it provides support for two new toy lines.

Captain America – Comic Series

We saw a prototype of Cap in his movie costume at San Diego Comic-Con, but Hasbro had a comics-based line on display here. It’s in the 3.75-inch scale, and while the figures are very much collector-oriented, with detailed sculpts and articulation, most figures incorporate action-oriented accessories. I suspect this will increase play value for the mass market.

For those of you who missed the excellent Captain America exclusive from SDCC, looks like you’ll get another chance as it appears the figure gets some reuse in this line. The line will also have classic and Ultimate Cap, as well as the Winter Soldier. Cool stuff!

Thor

The movie Thor figures, in the 3.75-inch scale, were shown at SDCC, but here we get our first glimpse at the packaging for the line – very eye-catching.

We’ll get some answers later today – we want to know if Thor will also be getting the comic series treatment, and if Hasbro will also be putting out some 6-inch figures for both lines, like they did with Iron Man.

  1. Hey Ron, how’s the size on those Comic Series Caps, some of them look small and undersized in some pics…
