Last Chance for a Last Dance with Mattycollector Pre-Orders

Battle Cat (non-animated) Matty Tracker 2014 - T-0

This is it, He-Fans, She-Ravers, DC (umm) collectors, and Ghostbusters! The pre-order windows for the Club Eternia, Club Infinite Earths, and the Ecto-1 close at the end of the day. At midnight (or, if Digital River runs true to form, sometime tomorrow morning) the pre-order pages will come down, and you’ll have missed your chance to subscribe and MAKE IT HAPPEN™. To help you decide to subscribe, Toy Guru posted a few tidbits. They essentially contain the same message, with two different delivery methods – one is a traditional wall of text, and the other is a video, with an opening that is truly Cringer-worthy.

In my latest Soapbox Sunday, I outlined which Mattycollector subscriptions I’m signing up for and why. If for some reason you still haven’t made up your mind, do it today!

(Also, click on Battle Cat above for some disco lights for your dancing cat. Or don’t. I didn’t use the animated version for the main post because I didn’t want to blind any unsuspecting readers!)

We Are Close But Not There Yet

Matty Fans,

We are close. Well, on some subs/presales closer than others. But I know we can make this happen! We are so close to another full year of MOTUC, DC 6” and an amazing, mind-blowing Ecto 1 vehicle with lights and sounds in-scale to your 6” GB collection!

But we can’t do this without our fans!

I’ve tried to spend the last few weeks clearing up any misconceptions or any clarifications for the 2014 subs, but we are not at 100% yet. And I can’t stress enough how we need this minimum quota to move forward. One of the most common requests or issues I see from customers online is they want the program to be a little different. Be it more reveals, cheaper prices, cheaper shipping, etc.

I really wish we could make these lines work for every single collector. I really do. In the end, every collector has their own social economic situation and collecting habits. Getting our lines to work perfectly for every single fan and their individual needs is no easy task. What we can offer is the 2014 subs and the Ecto preorder. These really are awesome toys, and it is going to take all of us (myself included!) as fans to make this work.

For those who only want (for example) only New Adventure figures but no POP, well, likewise there are POP fans who don’t want NA (same for Superman rogues and Bat family characters). The bottom line is we all need to come together. POP fans can accept a NA in return for getting their POP figs and NA fans can accept a POP figure as the price to get their NA characters. And again, same for DC.

I know a lot of us have that niche group within DC or MOTU we like, but in today’s market, with prices and labor going up faster than we can compensate for, the full year sub and presale method is the best and only way we can deliver more figures for fans. This is why we all need to unite together to make this happen. We can’t get the NA figs without some POP and likewise. But as a united fan base we can make these subs and the presale happen.

This is a unique, one of-a-kind opportunity my fellow toy fans. The offer to keep DCU 6” going and MOTUC going (and to get an amazing high end Ecto 1!) are once-in-a-lifetime chances. This won’t come around again. And it will take all of us uniting together for the brands and toys we love to make this happen. To say this is a communal effort is an understatement.

I know we can make this happen. If you are on the fence, please really think about what is keeping you from subbing. If you are a POP fan (to use the same examples to keep it consistent) consider being willing to pick up Hydron in order to ensure Glimmer happens. Likewise you will know that a NA fan out there is buying Glimmer to make his Hydron happen. We have to work together. It won’t work any other way.

Everyone has their own specific way they want to buy and collect toys. The reality of it is this presale sub method is what is on the table. Do we REALLY want these lines to end? I’m not saying issues and questions fans have are trivial, they are important, but we simply can’t make the lines work for every single fan. We needed to pick a method that would maximize our chances to get the most figures to the most fans.

We have a chance to make these awesome lines continue. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. It won’t happen again. These toys will be yours to cherish for years and decades to come. We make it through 2014 and boy, what a collection we will have.

We made the subs happen last year. We made flippin’ Castle Grayskull happen. I know DC, MOTU and GB fans have the power! Come together with your fellow toy fans. Keep the lines we love going strong and we promise to do everything we can to honor the faith you put in Mattel and the whole Matty team. Not buying a sub will only hurt us, the hard core fans. We can’t do this without each and everyone of us together buying a sub to help each other out.

Let’s make this happen!

Scott

  1. Man, if they would just reveal at least ONE more CIE figure for 2014, I would seriously consider subbing, but there’s just WAY too many unknowns, and I am not wowed by what they have shown so far. Gah, it’s so frustrating!

  2. reverendender – did you count Damian Wayne already? that was one I was hoping for and it happened. sadly, I think the gap is too wide to bridge on the DC sub this time.

  3. Damien Wayne is cool, but not only is he not as good as the DC direct figure, is just not enough of what I’m looking for.

  4. Here’s the problem Scott… it’s not about “more Flash villains and less Superman characters.” It’s about “You chose to make the Morrison Red Hood instead of the Leather Jacket Red Hood.” It’s also about “you are dangling a too-large Unleashed Doomsday as a stretch goal” when you should have made an accurate-sized Unleashed Doomsday as the first tier goal in the first place.
People just don’t want to take their chances that they are going to get double and triple-screwed by you again this year.
    You made your bed…
