My X-Mas Wish – Hasbro, Make a Marvel Legends Squirrel Girl Already!

This holiday season, I’ve found myself playing a fair amount of Marvel Heroes, the action RPG from Gazillion Entertainment. I was a big fan of the earlier Diablo games (not so much Diablo 3), and the team behind the first two games drove the development of this one. As such, the game may look a bit “classic” but the non-stop action coupled with the Marvel lore makes it a very fun experience.

Before I started playing, I wondered about what it would be like, since as a player, you are limited to choosing from the roster of Marvel heroes in the game (versus designing your own hero, like in many other RPGs). But with a steady release of new playable characters, it’s not all a bunch of Wolverines running around. Which brings me to my point – of *all* the playable characters (and a fair amount of villains in the game), there’s only one who doesn’t have an accompanying action figure in Marvel Legends – Squirrel Girl. It’s time for Hasbro to step up to the plate and make her!

Marvel Heroes has managed to get three Squirrel Girl costumes into the game. The default costume is her look that she first appeared in when she broke into the modern comics with the Great Lake Avengers. She also has two alternates, which can be found in the game or purchased – there’s the aviator costume that she wore in the GLA X-Mas special issue, and the holiday costume from GLX-Mas. Apparently, Squirrel Girl is big during the holidays.

Squirrel Girl was created by the great Steve Ditko, and while her appearances in the comics have been rare, she’s always made a big splash when she shows up. In her first appearance, she took on Doctor Doom when Iron Man was down for the count – and won. Since then, she’s managed to take on big-time villains in the Marvel Universe (including MODOK, Terrax and Thanos). And poor Deadpool – even though he’s got a pair of Squirrel Girl Underoos, he was totally caught unaware when she kicked his ass during the Marvel Civil War.

Marvel Heroes - Squirrel Girl turnaround

So how about it, Hasbro? With the new re-use mantra, you can add furry overlays for the forearms and shins, a belt, and tail to an existing female body, and boom – a deserving Marvel hero gets her action figure! Make it happen!

What about you, Marvel Legends fans? Which character is at the top of your X-Mas wish list? Let me know in the comments below, and have a great holiday!

  1. I’m with Krothor.
And while Squirrel Girl would be nice… so would Enchantress, Polaris, Shatterstar, Strong Guy, Stryfe, Multiple Man, Meltdown, Siryn and maybe a new Dragon Man that we don’t have to pay a scalper $500 for. And is Rom: Space Knight too much to ask for?

  2. I’d just like them to start making the feet a  normal size again!

Bucky cap, Black Panther and all the rest of that buck have ridiculously tiny feet!

  3. Squirrel Girl would be a fun figure to have, that’s for sure.
I’m still waiting on Enchantress and Executioner. They were so instrumental to the first bunch of Avengers issues, and got major props in the new Avengers cartoon, and if now aint the time to make Avengers villains, it aint never gonna happen.
