Border Patrol: Comic Book Cheesecake Statues, Now With More Cheese

It’s commonly believed that to make its product attractive to its target audience, the comic book industry systematically objectifies women. While doing my weekly eBay browsing for Border Patrol, I found one guy (at least, I assume he’s a guy) who has managed to take this to a whole new level. His schtick – taking high end statues of comic book vixens and making them even more provocative. As far as I can tell, he commissions the pieces – it’s not clear if they were originally for his personal collection, but now they’re up for auction.

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

For comparison’s sake, here are pics of the original items. They were pretty suggestive to begin with, but I’m not that surprised that there’s a market for the more extreme versions.

  1. Why would you repaint Mystique in human colors rather than her dark blue? Or is it this the wrong question to be asked?
