DCUC Series 8a !!!!!  One of the real joys of my job here is that I have the opportunity to present new toys to you all. It’s something I’ve felt is a true priveledge, especially since at the end of the day I’m just a fan & collector like everone reading this. Series 8a arrived, and I’m really amazed how Mattel & the Horsemen crank up the intensity & quality with each new wave. Series 7 marked a noticeable improvement in paint & quality control, series 8 is even better. Get a peek at what’s coming down the pipe in the very near future: you will notice that Gentlemen Ghost (not pictured) includes a mini figure of Atom, just because 🙂

First Look – MOTU Classics Mer-Man (TheFwoosh.com)

Mer-Man - vintage, MOTU Classics, 2003

Mer-Man - vintage, MOTU Classics, and 2003

Mer-Man is far and away my favorite Masters of the Universe character, and the 1980s figure went everywhere with me for about three or four years. Thus, I was extremely excited, yet a little anxious over the release of this figure; like Mattel’s DCUC Blue Beetle less than a month before, I wanted this the figure to be perfect. Well, I am happy to say that he is pretty darned close and I really believe he is the best overall Masters of the Universe Classics figure we have gotten yet – even edging out the fantastic Skeletor.

Deadpool, with modifications, by Ron

The Deadpool figure from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine line (whew, that’s a mouthful) is probably my favorite Marvel figure in the 3 3/4-inch scale from Hasbro.  It doesn’t hurt that Deadpool is one of my favorite Marvel characters.  He’is a kickass ninja who, in the hands of a talented writer (no, I’m not talking about Daniel Way), would beat you into submission with in-fight banter.  The stock figure is a pretty good rendition of him, but given how much I like the character, I couldn’t leave good enough alone.
