DC Universe Classics Wave 12 Packaged Pics – Win a White Variant Mary Batson

My set of DC Universe Classics Wave 12 arrived the other day.  For now, here’s some packaged pics of the entire wave minus the Spectre glow-in-the-dark chase variant.  I’ve liked the packaging redesign since I first saw pictures of it, but having them in hand has made me appreciate it even more.

I noticed after taking the pictures that the trade paperbacks I used to prop my camera up are reflected in some of the package fronts.  Oops!

So, as a little contest for a shot at my white-costumed variant Mary Batson, I’ll pick one winner at random from folks who leave a comment on this article that lists out the titles of the TPBs I used as a tripod-substitute.  The eligible folks will be the ones who correctly identify the most titles (there’s four in total – 3 comic book TPBs and 1 manual), and I’ll cut off the entries when we post our Mattel coverage for Toy Fair.

Take a close look, add a comment with your guesses, and good luck.  And while you’re at it, use the links below this article to subscribe to AFP!

Stay tuned for a closer look at wave 12, coming soon.

Marvel Minimates Series 32 – Iron Man, Titanium Man, Cable, X-23, Yellowjacket, Goliath, and Kree Soldiers

I am in love with Art Asylum’s Marvel Minimates. Yes I am. I have always seen these guys in my local comic book shop and at Toys R Us, I always thought they looked interesting, but I never gave in to buying them. When I saw the Series 28 Deadpool, I was so impressed with the detail and the wealth of accessories that I decided to pick him up. Open the floodgates. I was an official Minimates collector. I know I’ll never be a completist with this line starting so late, but I do notice that Art Asylum has been updating some of the previous Marvel characters they have done before. So there’s still a chance to catch up on some characters that I’ve missed!

Today we’ll have a look at Series 32. If you’re a die-hard Minimates fan, you’ve probably picked these guys up already as they came out around January. For the curious, read on and see if Minimates are something you’d be into!

Series 32 includes four sets: Iron Man and Titanium Man, Cable and X-23, Yellowjacket and Kree Soldier, and the variant set of Goliath and Kree Soldier.

Superman Batman Public Enemies Wave 2 – Now With 100% More Batman!

but a lot less Superman…

Hate to stick another thorn in Ron’s jealous hide but a week of daily visits to Target here in Gainesville, FL has paid off this morning! I passed on the metallic Superman redux as I had already gotten the Brimstone part that came with him from fellow NE FL Fwoosher Superdoug and I just don’t need another Superman…

Hasbro Iron Man 2 Comic Series 3.75-Inch Figures

This is a review from Sandman21xxi – he’s become a fixture on the Fwoosh with his great pics across a variety of toy lines, and he’ll be joining us soon as a regular contributor on AFP!

Classic Iron Man, Stealth Operations Iron Man, First Appearance Iron Man and Crimson Dynamo!

Iron Man 2 (768x1024).jpg

Three months to go before Iron Man 2 hits the theaters (I believe the release date is May 7, 2010), and the toys have started to show up in some stores! I got this set at Toys R Us, which somewhat surprised me as it’s only January, but hey I’m not complaining! These figures are from the Comic Series. I saw some from the Movie and Concept series, but I was more interested in these guys because they would be a welcome addition to my Marvel Universe collection!

I’m doing more of a picture review with some of my observations added in. Let’s start with a lineup pic for size reference and some comparison pics with some Marvel Universe figures.

Incredible Hulk Wave 3 Bi-Beast, Iron Clad, and Classic Hulk

Fwoosher Hagop sent pictures of three figures from Wave 3 of the 3.75-inch Incredible Hulk movie line.  These figures didn’t see wide distribution when first released near the end of 2008, and excess inventory has made its way to discount stores.

Bi-Beast, Iron Clad, and a classic version of the Hulk were not featured in the Incredible Hulk movie, but were based off of designs from the Incredible Hulk video game by Sega.
