WebSwipe: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Cosplay Gallery

The Comic-Con 2013 Cosplay Gallery

One thing I haven’t done in a while is take pictures of booth babes and cosplayers at SDCC. Frankly, there’s just so many of them at the big show that I’d never get where I needed to be if I was shooting them all.

Luckily, Norman Chan faced no such predicament. He’s posted an SDCC 2013 Cosplay Gallery with over 850 pics from this year’s Con. It’s jam-packed with really excellent portraits. Enjoy!

SDCC 2013: Sideshow Collectibles Instapics

SDCC is pretty busy, and I don’t often have enough time to just walk around and look at stuff. The Sideshow booth is one location where I definitely love to spend time just soaking it all in. I don’t usually take pictures of the larger items with my “real” camera – it’s somewhat torturous because there’s so much goodness there, and I would just be killing myself processing pictures of stuff that is way beyond my means to collect. (I did capture most of the Hot Toys displays at Sideshow in an earlier post.)

Still, I couldn’t resist snapping some shots with my phone camera. With no polarizing filter, it’s impossible to get a shot of the glass displays without getting some reflection of lights or other things in the shot. And I guess for these pictures, the glare and reflections are part of the fun.

SDCC 2013: Hasbro Transformers

Hasbro Transformers Soundwave

Even though the show is over we’ve still got more to cover for San Diego Comic-Con. I mentioned in this week’s Border Patrol that our Transformers coverage was lousy – it wasn’t for lack of trying. On Thursday I had planned to record the Transformers panel – I had been in the room earlier for Mattel’s Evolution of the Modern Action Figure panel – but left the room as there were a couple hours in between. When I got back to the room with about 45 minutes before the start, the line to get in was massive. And since the panel in progress was about the Transformers TV show, very few spots in the room opened up. Locked out!

With respect to the figures, Sandman took a bunch of shots but hasn’t had time to categorize them. And, unfortunately, after collecting Alternators for a while, I went on hiatus after Hasbro stopped making them. So here’s Sandman’s pics, without any helpful commentary at all. [/Ron]

SDCC 2013: Plants vs. Zombies 2 Customized Munnies Showcase

Plants vs Zombies 2 Custom Munnies 2

There really is so much to do at Comic-Con that you’d be challenged to see everything that you want. Case in point, it was only on the last day that I ventured to the far end of the main exhibit where they moved all the video game booths. Because I loved the original Plants vs. Zombies game so much, I wandered into the PvZ2 booth – I wondered what they would be showing because my nephew had told me that the game was delayed.

I was happy to see that PopCap had commissioned a bunch of artists to customize a mess of giant 18-inch Mega Munnies into a horde of PvZ-styled zombies.

SDCC 2013: Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull – New and Improved

I spoke with Toy Guru about the changes that have been made to the Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull. One thing he clarified right off the bat was the “Not Final” sign on the Castle. Some folks took it to mean that structural changes could still be made, but Toy Guru made it clear that at this point, further tweaks are really not possible.

By not final it means the sample wasn’t made of plastic yet and a few kinks to work out like getting the elevator to work a little better. But castle is tooled.
