Mattel to Sell Masters of the Universe Classics Tri-Klops and Ghostbusters Ray Stanz at C2E2 [Corrected]

In my haste this morning, I mistakenly posted that Trap Jaw, not Tri-Klops, would be on sale at C2E2 – thanks to all of you who contacted me to alert me of my error.

If you missed out on your chance at the Masters of the Universe Classics Tri-Klops (see my review), you may not have to resort to eBay or wait for Mattel to reissue him. Residents of the Chicago area will have a chance to pick up Tri-Klops from Mattel at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, which runs from April 16 – 18.

They’ll also have another sold out item, Ghostbuster’s Ray Stantz (see my review), available.  Both items will be in limited quantities, so stop at Mattel first!

Mattel Display at Chicago Comic Expo & Reserve Products For Sale

Toy Fans,

As you know, we hold back product from sales in “reserve” to replace damaged or lost product. After enough time has passed, the product isn’t needed any longer so we’ve decided to start offering that product to you. We’ll begin selling it at various conventions around the country and eventually offer some here at MattyCollector.com.

The first offering will be limited quantities of Ghostbusters™ 6″ Ray Stanz™ and Masters of the Universe® Classics Tri-Klops® figures in April. You’ll find them for sale at the convention sales desk at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) show running April 16-18.

Even if you’re not in the market for these figures, be sure to stop by the Mattel display. MOTU fans will find favorites like Count Marzo™, Gygor™, Tytus™, Keldor™, Whiplash™, Optikk™, and more! And if you dig DC, don’t miss the Wave 14 figures, Lobo, and Waves 1 and 2 of the Retro-Action™ line. Plus, a spirited Ghostbusters™ collection will be on hand.

That’s just a taste of some of the hot toys you can expect to see. So remember, if you’re in the Chicago area April 16-18, stop by the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo and tell ‘em Matty sent you!

−−Matty

P.S. Please don’t call Digital River asking to purchase the product. It will only be sold as described above.

Mike Deodato Card Art for Marvel Universe

Back in October, we were happy to share some of the Marvel Universe Secret Wars card art by Bob Layton. Hasbro has continued to work with the top Marvel artists on the card art for the Marvel Universe line. For 2009, Frank Cho was tapped for the main line’s card art, and Joe Quesada provided the art for the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives (and word has it that he’ll repeat for SDCC this year.)

In 2010, it’s Mike Deodato Jr. on the main line. I happened upon some of the original, uncolored art for the cards and wanted to share it with you here.

NECA Clash of the Titans Action Figures and Props Press Pics

Is it me, or is Sam Worthington becoming synonymous with big budget CGI action flicks? The 2-up of the Perseus figure looked awesome at NECA’s showroom at Toy Fair.

The Gods Must Be Crazy

New Clash of the Titans figures and props available this month!

The new Warner Bros. remake of Clash of the Titans isn’t out for another month, but NECA’s got you prepped ahead of time with all-new figures and props from the movie!

Whether he likes it or not, Perseus is headed to the underworld to fight Hades, and, sure, he’s bringing some friends along for the ride, but we all know who the pressure’s on. After all, being a son of Zeus comes with some expectations, right? Well, when it comes to saving Earth from being overrun by demons and other terrible types, at least we know we’re in good hands.

NECA’s first line of Clash of the Titans action figures features two versions of Perseus, as he’s portrayed in the film by actor Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator: Salvation); one clean and one who’s kicked up some dirt from all that fighting. Both figures stand 7″ tall and come with a sword, shield and battle-hardened attitude.

Next up are the resin statues of the gods. Available in a set of six, the statues capture the movie likenesses perfectly and are 7″ tall. These will be in stores later this month and make for an extremely unique collector’s item for fans of the film or of Greek mythology in general.

Last but not at all least are the massive prop replicas from the film. Real metal weapons that look as true-to-life as you’re going to get. Perseus’ sword is 27″ long and gorgeously crafted. His sword from the gods is even bigger, measuring 34″ long and featuring a unique handle and detail that Clash of the Titans fans will go nuts for. There’s also the highly detailed 9 1/2″ throwing knife used by Draco in the film and the 10 1/2″ baton of the gods (for those in a less stabby mood), which excellently match the movie’s intricate designs.

NECA’s Clash of the Titans merchandise will be available this month in stores and at our Amazon storefront.

Hot Toys Poll – Which Avatar Character Do You Want as a Movie Masterpiece

Hot Toys is running a poll on its blog asking you to pick which Avatar character you would like to see as a Movie Masterpiece. They’ve got four choices – Jake Sully (Avatar), Neytiri, Colonel Miles Quaritch, and Dr. Grace Augustine, plus the chance to write in a vote if your pick isn’t there.

As you might imagine, Jake Sully is running away with it. When they make him, I wonder if they’ll make him in scale – that’d be a 20-inch tall Movie Masterpiece! I can easily see them making Jake and Neytiri – do you think they’d ever get to an avatar version of Sigourney Weaver?
