AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 12/1/10

The crew from Mattel is back with another edition of Ask Matty. Our thanks to Toy Guru and the gang!

1) This may be a question for the Four Horsemen – what’s desired for the DC Universe Classics line for head size? Some of the early figures had heads on the smaller size, like Batman and Aquaman, while some of the more recent figures seem to have oversized heads, like Guy Gardner, Alan Scott, and OMAC. Is this an intentional move to make the heads bigger?

Sometimes it is intentional, based on character; sometimes it is due to tooling issues. We do strive for consistency but it is not a perfect world and sometimes not everything comes out the way design wants. In some cases, like with the corrected height Sinestro coming to TRU next month, we try to fix things when we can!

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 11/15/10

We thought maybe we had been stood up by the Mattel team, but they eventually showed up tonight with the answers for the latest round of Q&A. Thanks to Toy Guru and the team at Mattel!

1. We’ve seen what looks like a factory-produced Green Lantern Classics Abin Sur figure with double-jointed elbows and Black Hand with double-jointed elbows and knees. Does this mean that you’re taking opportunities to introduce figures with double-jointed articulation when you have the opportunity to add new tooling? Or was this a production error?

Yes, we are looking at adding more articulation into DCUC figures when logistically possible.

Currently the plan is to continue the Power-Core Combiners line up until the release of the Movie 3 line with new teams and figures.

2) Are there any plans to release the remaining Animated figures shown at previous Botcons, such as Hydrodrive Bumblebee and Voyager Thundercracker, in the US?

Unfortunately, we do not have any plans to release these figures in the near future.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 11/1/10

Hey Mattel fans – it’s time for the newest Q&A session of Ask Matty! Thanks to Toy Guru and the gang at Mattel, and happy Monday!

1) Superman/Batman: Apocalypse was recently released, and featured Ed Asner reprising his role as Granny Goodness. What’s it going to take to get a Granny Goodness figure in DC Universe Classics?

Increased fan demand. When the “Crisis on Two Earths” DVD came out there was skyrocketing demand for the Crime Syndicate but that died down soon after. We’ll have to see how Granny’s appearance in this DVD plays out with fans in the long run.

AFP Hasbro G.I. JOE Q&A for 10/22/10

It took a little bit longer than normal, but the G.I. JOE team at Hasbro is back with another round of Q&A.

1) We’re all excited about the G.I. Joe Renegades show on the Hub premiering November 26. When will we start hearing about toy lines to support the show?

G.I. Joe product inspired by characters and themes from the upcoming G.I. Joe Renegades series on the Hub will be available in Fall 2011. The figures will be offered in the Pursuit of Cobra line and will have the highly-detailed, realistic look of the line.
