Diamond Select Toys Avengers Movie – Marvel Select Hulk and Minimates

You might think that the price point on the Hot Toys Avengers movie figures is a little too rich for your blood. Or maybe you want something to satisfy that Avengers craving *today*. If so, DST has a couple of new releases on shelves now.

I’m thinking that the Marvel Select Hulk could capture Mark Ruffalo’s likeness a little better, but I don’t really mind. This Hulk has an ab tilt and swivel, two fists, bicep swivels, and DC Universe Classics hips. Innovation is allowing DST to cram more functional points of articulation into the limit prescribed by their license. Kudos to the designers!

And if you’re looking to army build a Chitauri invasion force, Minimates might be the way to go. Might also be the only way to get a movie Maria Hill figure.

Toy Fair 2012 – Hasbro Marvel Legends Report

Hasbro Marvel Legends (1280x719).jpg

I can’t tell you how good it feels to be writing about Marvel Legends again at Toy Fair. Sure, the Marvel team got the clean-up spot in the schedule of yesterday’s presentations at Hasbro’s Media Fan Day, and Legends got the last spot in the Marvel presentation, but the showroom was a sea of the unwashed masses for most of the afternoon – it’s good to be back!

Dave Vonner got the nod for presenting both Legends and Universe (I’ll cover Marvel Universe separately), and while he didn’t get to reveal a whole lot for Legends, we got to see the progression for some of the Series 3 figures, as well as a reveal for 2012 – the Squadron Supreme’s Hyperion. Hyperion was shown as a rendering of a digital sculpt (I’ll guess Gentle Giant) and as such wasn’t available in the showroom. What we did see in there was both Series 1 (see Sandman’s review of Extremis Iron Man) and 2 packaged samples, as well as painted prototypes of Blade and U.S. Agent.

Gentle Giant Deadpool Statue Preview?

When I posted the Black Cat preview from Gentle Giant earlier, I mentioned the announcement from the Gentle Giant homepage – this image of Deadpool was one of the teasers. They’ve already built out the categories of Marvel products, and there’s one called “Statues w/Vehicles” – I imagine that this is going to go in that category, and it is an awesome start.

As you may know, I’ve been a fan of Deadpool and his scooter for some time now. (Please pardon the link to my “dead as that guy Deadpool shot” customs website.)

Toy Fair 2011 – Hasbro Marvel Report – Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe

Marvel Universe Sentinel (1280x853).jpgMarvel Universe (1280x853).jpg

Hasbro held its collector event for the online media outlets – how we qualify for this I’ll never know, but I won’t fight it. It’s a great event that covers all the Hasbro collector-oriented lines, including Star Wars, GI Joes, and Transformers. But my first love is the comic book properties, so I’ll be sharing the pictures and recaps of the Marvel lines first.

First off, let’s start with Marvel Legends. I was a little surprised that they decided to show some items – at least in the slide show. None of what we were shown was available in the showroom, and that’s not surprising since this is 2012 product. And unlike last year, no pictures or video was allowed during the presentation. But, across the board, I can say what was in the slide show looked good.
