Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man Test Shots on eBay

I am late to the game seeing these two auctions for Iron Man action figure test shots, because they end in a few hours today.  But they appear to be for the 6-inch Marvel Legends or Iron Man lines.

The talk of Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man in plastic form started at Toy Fair this year, where Hasbro announced the two for its ongoing 6-inch Iron Man line.  At San Diego Comic-Con, painted prototypes for the two were in the display case but removed just prior to the start of the show.  When asked, Hasbro’s Marvel team said they didn’t want to show figures that might not make it to retail – the problem was that the retail channel was still full of previous series of Iron Man figures.

While Hasbro has committed to 3.75-inch scale for the Iron Man 2 movie, they did state in a recent Q&A that they were still hoping to bring out these two figures in 6-inch scale.

Now that the Marvel Legends series 2.5 2-packs, which include Stealth Iron Man and Sharon Carter, have hit Toys R Us both at retail and online, I keep hearing how some people missed the original Iron Man and Maria Hill 2-pack (see my review). These are pretty much non-existent at their bricks and mortar stores now, but they just became available again at the TRU website.

The Dum Dum and Stealth Iron Man packs are out of stock, but they still have the Fantastic Four and the Kree / Skrull 2-packs in stock.

Happy shopping!

Hasbro Announces 10-Year License for Sesame Street

Sesame Street says so long to Mattel
Sesame Street says so long to Mattel

We don’t usually follow Sesame Street toys, but the license moving from long-term holder Mattel to Hasbro for a ten year term is significant, when you consider that Sesame Street is one of the biggest names in the market for young children, that is said to be about $10 billion a year in sales.  Hasbro will begin selling Sesame Street products in 2011, after the Mattel license, served primarily through its Fisher Price division, expires.

Mattel picked up the 15 year license when it acquired Tyco way back in 1996.  Prior to the acquisition, Tyco had just kicked off the license and had introduced Tickle Me Elmo, the product that would become the anchor for many holiday seasons for Mattel.  Three years ago, Mattel relaunched the product as TMX – Tickle Me Elmo Extreme – to great success.
