Art Asylum / Diamond Select Toys has updated their list of upcoming shipping dates. Hitting today are the re-releases of the Marvel Select Hulk and Iron Man figures.

I was surprised to see the Star Trek TOS Series 5 and Salt Vampire on the TBD list, because I thought those had already been scheduled.

Art Asylum September Previews Pics

Diamond Select Toys has had a presence on Facebook for a while now thanks to Matt “Diamond” – now Matt is stepping it up with an Art Asylum Fan Page and a new Twitter account, @DSTMatt.  Expect a new Minimates announcement tomorrow on Twitter.

With the latest Facebook update, Matt’s posted the September Previews.  It’s nice that they’re reissuing Hulk, as it will look great going head to head with the upcoming Marvel Select Thing.

Q: What’s Better Than Storing Your Action Figures in Big Plastic Tubs?

A: Actually having space to display them! 😀

A couple of days ago, I was lamenting having to move all of the action figures I had, not because we were moving, but because we had decided to install new carpeting. A few of them were on display in a small bookshelf that was mostly filled with books, and the balance were stored in big plastic tubs that I used to call “Staging Area One.” The carpet went in earlier this week, and I’ve been spending the last couple of days setting up the new display.

We got rid of the old bookshelf and added more shelving cubes. In all, there are forty-nine 1-foot square cubes, and I’ve got figures in thirty-one of them, and extra figures and customizing supplies in fourteen more. I’d guess I’ve got at least five times more display space than I used to.

Not sure when we’ll be seeing the next figures, but Diamond Select Toys has Daredevil, Spider-Man, Thing, and Abomination on deck.

Marvel Select Abomination and Thing Painted Prototype Pics

You may not know who Eddie Wires is, but if you’re a fan of action figures, then you most likely have pieces of his work in your collection.  Eddie is one of the premier prototype painters, and certainly one of the more prolific ones.  He’s also an extremely nice guy – sorry, I couldn’t find a P-word for that.

I found these pictures in one of Eddie’s Facebook photo albums, and it’s really a mixed blessing.  While I love seeing his work, it’s almost like torture, because the production pieces can never truly match up.

You can see more of Eddie’s work at his website, Wires Productions.
