STGCC 2013: Hot Toys Marvel, DC, Terminator, and G.I. JOE

STGCC 2013 Hot Toys 01

Our good friend Jedd is at the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention, and has sent us in this update from the Hot Toys booth. He writes:

Here are some photos of this year’s Marvel-heavy Hot Toys display, including three dioramas: one of the Avengers eating their shawarma, one of Odin banishing Thor to Earth as Loki looks on, and Tony Stark in his workshop, putting together the latest “mark” of his suit of armour. There was also a display employing the use of holographic projection technology.

With that one of a kind Bruce Banner, it’ll be tough to recreate that shawarma scene – unless Hot Toys has plans for the puny human. Jedd also sent in pics of the Hot Toys DC, Terminator, and G.I. JOE figures.

Weekend Toy Run: TFAW’s Labor Day Two or Fewer Sale

I got to Things From Another World’s “Two or Fewer” sale a bit late this weekend. Their toy prices are generally reasonable, but with a half off sale on items with just one or two left in inventory, they tend to go fast. While the toys have been picked over like a TRU at the end of a weekend, there are still some awesome deals if you are into graphic novels and premium hardcovers. I’ve been paging through the DC and Marvel items on sale, and there’s a bunch of DC Archives and Marvel Masterworks that I’d love to pick up.

Save 50% Before They’re Gone: Graphic Novels, Toys, Statues & More

Want to save 50% on thousands of graphic novels, toys, statues, and more? Act fast! Our Two or Fewer Sale is crammed full of awesome geeky products–but we only have one or two of each item in stock!

STGCC 2013: Play Imaginative Super Alloy Iron Man

STGCC 2013 Play Imaginative Iron Man 4

Jedd has sent in an update from the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention – he’s visited the Play Imaginative booth and shared this report on the Super Alloy Iron Man diecast line. I’m really amazed that PI is so aggressively targeting the Marvel brand that’s been Hot Toys’ bread and butter for the past few years. Jedd writes:

Play Imaginative trucked out an incredible display of practically every Iron Man armour that has been in the movies, in six inch scale (just prototypes at this point, there are no plans to release every last one). There were also figures in 12 inch scale and 18 inch scale, with a central display of an 18 inch scale Hall of Armour. The Mark VII figure comes with several heads, and what is interesting is that one of them is Pepper in the helmet; Gwyneth Paltrow’s likeness.

Frank Kozik’s Marvel Mini Labbits Hopping onto Kidrobot on September 12th

MRVL_MINI_LABBIT_BLOG_POST MarvelLabbitMiniFigs

While we’re on the subject of designer urban vinyl toys, here’s an update on the Marvel Mini Labbits from artist Frank Kozik that are being produced by Kidrobot. They are being released on September 12th, and will feature an assortment of ten characters in blind boxed packaging, for $9.99 each. I don’t know if Kozik is a big Marvel fan, but his picks for characters are unique enough (read: not just the top 10 Marvel characters) to make me think he is. In addition to miniaturizing Venom and Wolverine, Kozik has included the Red Skull, Loki, Ghost Rider, Doctor Octopus, Doctor Doom, the Punisher, Deadpool, and Galactus in this assortment. Gotta love the villains and anti-heroes!

In addition Kozik will be touring the Kidrobot stores to promote the Kidrobot / Marvel collaboration. If you can’t make it to one of their retail locations, you can still get the Marvel Mini Labbits at Kidrobot – at least after September 12th.

STGCC 2013: Preview Pics of Play Imaginative, Hot Toys, and Transformers by Jedd

STGCC 2013 Preview 1

Our good friend Jedd was at the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention for their preview day, and sent in these pictures. He writes in:

Today was preview day for STGCC and I managed to get some pictures. I have a couple of pictures of Play Imaginative’s Iron Man stuff, including the 6 inch scale Hammer drones. The Hot Toys Exclusives at the convention are: Joe Colton from GI JOE Retaliation, The Iron Man “Midas” Armour, Evil Superman from Superman III, and “Star-Spangled Man” Captain America. There’s also a Metroplex Transformer that is being brought in by The Falcon’s Hangar store.

Thanks a bunch, Jedd!
