Toy Fair 2010 – NECA HeroClix, Player Select, and Movie Figures Pics

While I didn’t speak to anyone at the NECA booth (everyone looked very busy), I did take some pictures of their action figures in HeroClix, Player Select video games, and movie license categories, excluding Harry Potter and Twilight.  Sorry, fans of those two franchises – I couldn’t bring myself to do it. :D

NECA BioShock 2 Big Sister and Little Sister Two-Pack

DSCN3583.JPG

With the upcoming release of BioShock 2 this Tuesday, February 9th, let’s have a look at NECA’s BioShock 2: Big Sister and Little Sister 2-pack. Now I have to admit I never played the first game (I plan to though!), so I have no idea what BioShock’s story is, but when I saw these at my local Toys R’ Us, I couldn’t resist and I decided to pick this set up. The character designs just look too awesome to ignore! I was also curious about the articulation and I was hoping they weren’t going to be statues. I loved what NECA had done with Street Fighter and Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa in regards to articulation, and I was hoping they did the same to these figures.

NECA Army of Two Figures Available for Pre-Order

I haven’t played this game, but saw the figures at San Diego Comic-Con and they looked cool.  The articulation looks a little lacking – every action-oriented video game figure ought to be super-poseable, at least in my humble opinion!

Army of Two Head into Battle

Because you can’t have just one.

EA’s upcoming sequel to the smash game Army of Two, dubbed Army of Two: The 40th Day, takes place a few years after the original. Main characters Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are mercenaries leading the company TransWorld Operations (TWO), and when a competing force starts reaking havoc in the city, it’s up to Rios and Salem to stop them the only way they know how: with huge, awesome-looking, customizable guns.

To celebrate Army of Two: The 40th Day’s upcoming January release, NECA is now taking preorders for our first Army of Two figures — Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem!

Each of these highly detailed and poseable figures is armed to the teeth with an assault rifle, a sniper rifle and a pistol. No worries if it’s too much to carry since the weapons attach to the figures’ back. Also included are the individual masks that Rios and Salem wear in the game — pivoting up and down to give them a better look at the action.

Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are available for preorder now and will also be available at our Amazon storefront.

NECA Announces Dante Figure from Dante’s Inferno Video Game

I admit that I hadn’t heard of this game prior to this announcement, but that’s nothing new.  As you may know, I am a big fan of superposeable figures, so seeing that Dante would have 30 points was very welcome.  Those red strips of cloth are a tapestry that Dante has sewn into his skin, so it’ll be interesting to see how NECA handles that – right now it looks like a mix of fabric and plastic elements.

To Hell and Back

Dante’s Inferno just got hotter

In the upcoming EA third person adventure, Dante’s Inferno, you are Dante. Death has come to steal your love Beatrice’s soul and take her to Hell — but on his way out, you grab his scythe and follow behind. As in Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy, the poet Virgil guides Dante through the circles of Hell, encountering the embodiments of the seven deadly sins along the way. In the video game, he rides on the backs of demons and slashes his way through each circle on his way to Beatrice, who is being held by Lucifer himself.

To celebrate this slab of videogameular awesomeness, NECA is proud to unveil our first Dante figure. Boasting 30 points of articulation, Dante is truly one of a kind. He carries a Cross in a sheath on his right hip, has an interchangeable right hand, and then, of course, there’s the scythe…

An imposing site in itself, Death’s scythe stands over eight inches tall! Not only that, but the blade is detachable for hand-held use. It might just be the coolest videogame weapon ever, and it’s definitely given its due with the Dante figure. The Inferno will never be the same.

Dante’s Inferno will be released February 9, 2010 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP. Our Dante figure hits stores after Xmas and will also be available at our Amazon storefront.

NECA Adds Dead Space to Player Select

If you’re not feeling NECA’s new Batsu vinyl figures for Gears of War, rest assured that they are still making action figures.  Dead Space joins NECA’s Player Select line with two Isaac Clarke figures that will feature light-up masks.

You can check out more NECA figures from San Diego Comic-Con here: San Diego Comic-Con 2009 | NECA.

Suit Up With Isaac Clarke

NECA’s premiere series to fill Dead Space on shelves worldwide

DeadSpaceIsaac-RipperDeadSpaceIsaac-PlasmaCutter

In Dead Space, it’s the 26th Century and you’re Isaac Clarke, an engineer sent to repair the interplanetary mining ship USG Ishimura, near the planet Aegis VII. Seems simple enough — another day, another dollar — until the whole thing gets shot to hell and you end up having to fight for your live against zombified Necromorphs while simultaneously uncovering a conspiracy involving the Church of Unitology and wondering just where your girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, who was assigned as a medical specialist to the Ishimura could have got off to.

Sounds like the makings of some serious trouble, but fortunately ol’ Isaac’s got a pressurized suit that along with keeping him alive, goes great with his plasma cutter, flamethrower and ripper. The EA game was a Game Informer game of the month and has picked up numerous awards for its sound design, atmosphere and overall quality. NECA is proud to reveal two new figures of Isaac Clarke based on his appearance in Dead Space.

Both the standard Isaac with the plasma cutter and the bloody variant with the ripper come with a light up LED mask and back and over 20 points of articulation. With ball joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists and ankles as well as ball hinges at the knees and elbows, left swivel biceps, a swivel waist and T crotch with hinged swivel hips, Isaac has the flexibility to take on whoever — and whatever — he might encounter aboard the Ishimura.

NECA’s Dead Space figures are available September 2009 in stores and online at our own Amazon storefront. Stay tuned to necaonline.com for more info on this and other lines from your favorite games and movies.

San Diego Comic-Con NECA Pics

Visiting the NECA booth last week at San Diego Comic-Con, I was disappointed to not see more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and not until after the show did I find out why. I am not familiar with many of NECA’s licensed video game properties. Sure, I know Street Fighter, but my gaming in my old age is limited to NHL games. Still, there’s lots to appreciate here just from an action figure fan perspective.

Bio Shock – Industrial from TheFwoosh.com really dug these – he hasn’t played the game either.

NECA Releases Prototype Figure from Activision’s Video Game

Coinciding with the release of Activision’s new open world action game, Prototype, NECA has released a figure of Prototype’s hero, Alex Mercer.  Given the character’s freerunning abilities, I would have hoped for a more articulated figure, but NECA has seemed to go back and forth on how much articulation they’ll be putting into the Player Select line.

Ready Your Devastator Attack

NECA’s First Prototype Figure Takes Shape!

Just in time for the June 9 release of Activision’s new hit game Prototype, NECA Player Select unveils our very first figure for it: lead character Alex Mercer!

The scene is New York City and a mutating virus has just been unleashed in Penn Station (how would you know? — heyo!). Alex wakes up in the hospital, unable to remember anything, but soon learns he has the ability to modify his genetic code at will and attains superhuman powers.

With some help along the way, Alex begins to unravel the conspiracy surrounding the release of the virus and ultimately clashes with the likes of the military and secret government enforcers, all the while battling through the hordes of deformed New Yorkers using his newfound strength, agility and shape-shifting.

The fate of the city and ultimately the world beyond is up to you as the player, but however it turns out, NECA’s Alex Mercer features his morphing bladed right arm and ball-jointed neck, shoulders, torso, and wrists, and comes in a collector-grade clamshell package — ready for the fight of his life.
