Mattel Batman Apptivity Figures On Sale on kids.woot.com

I am one of the ten people who don’t use an Apple iPad, so I won’t be partaking of this deal that Mattel has on kids.woot.com, for 25% off of its Apptivity figures. The way it works is that you download a free app for your iPad, like the Apptivity Batman app, and the figure has special contacts on the bottom so the iPad knows what figure you’re using and where it is on the screen. Sounds like it could be fun!

NYCC 2012: Square Enix Play Arts Kai

Square Enix continues to impress me, show after show. They have some awesome stuff on display for Street Fighter, Halo, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and Mass Effect. But I was really impressed by a Starship Troopers figure I hadn’t seen before, and the Batman stuff is mind-blowing. Sideshow Collectibles Free US Shipping Sale on Hot Toys Through End of September

Sideshow is offering free US shipping on a bunch of Hot Toys figures, including items that are in stock and pre-orders. Popular items like the Joker 2.0, Bane, the new T-800 Terminator, and X3 Wolverine are on the list. The promotion is good for the rest of September.

The Amazing Spider-Man and the Dark Knight Launch New Super-Articulated 1/12 Action Figure Line from Medicom

Medicom has had modest success with its 1/6 scale Real Action Hero line but they are now looking to turn the 1/12 scale on its head with its new MAFEX line of action figures, as highlighted in this blog post at AmiAmi.com. Featuring super-articulation, great sculpts, and accessories, these figures promise to be the best in class in 6 inches (6.3 inches to be precise) – sorry Hasbro and Mattel! Of course these are going to be import figures only, for those of us in the US – so you shouldn’t be expecting mass market action figure prices either.

These are available to pre-order now on the AmiAmi.com site:

At 2,820 JPY, they are roughly $36 and change each, not including overseas shipping. They’re listed with an expected April 2013 release date.
