Hot Toys Marvel Movie Masterpiece Logan from X-Men Origins: Wolverine

MarvelousNews.com has posted pictures of the final prototype for the Hot Toys Marvel Movie Masterpiece Logan from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  I think the head sculpt and paint apps are much improved since the first teaser image we saw back in June.

Hot Toys Secures Marvel Movie Masterpiece License

Gotta how the internet connects and informs people.  This news comes via TheFwoosh.com -> HotToysFan.com -> EddieWong.net.  And what big news it is.

Hot Toys has picked up the movie licensing for Marvel, and from the announcement it appears they’ve got movies past and present.  Want a 1/6 scale Halle Berry Storm to go with the upcoming Hot Toys X-Men Origins Wolvie?  Yeah, ok, I know she wasn’t all that great.  How about a Hannibal King from Blade 3?  Well, it’s all possible now.

Yes, that is right folks. Hot Toys has the license to the Marvel Universe. And the pic above is the announcement teaser from HT’s official catalog.

For those who cannot read Japanese, here’s what the page says:

Left-side: Movie Masterpiece. Starting soon.

Right-side: Blade trilogy, X-Men trilogy, Spider-Man trilogy, & more…

Yes, Movie Masterpiece. Not the comic versions. This means, for those who have longed for a good ‘movie Spidey’ 1/6th figure, you’re about to get one. And it’s the trilogy they’re doing which means you’ll not only get Spidey, but probably also the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, and Sandman to say the least!

And, you’ve got to check out the pictures Eddie has of Hot Toys stuff at the International Tokyo Toy Show.  Fantastic pics!  Here’s a very small sampling of the low res shots.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Colossus Prototype

Paul Harding has posted his prototype for the upcoming Colossus single-carded figure from Hasbro’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine line. Full-size pics on Paul’s blog – definitely worth checking out for more sculpts and original artwork. Very cool!

AFP’s Hasbro Marvel Q&A Roundup – 7/2/9

The Hasbro Marvel team checks in for the latest round of Q&A.  There’s some updates on when we’ll be seeing the Iron Man animated line and a clue on who will be coming in Secret Wars.  Unfortunately, my plea for Hasbro to just send me a Mighty Muggs Logan was far too subtle.

1. We’ll save the bulk of our San Diego Comic-Con questions for next Q&A, but here’s one for planning purposes. Will all the Marvel exclusives be available on HasbroToyShop.com? And will there be any differences between what’s available at the con and what will be released through HTS?

Yes, they will be available online, but they usually go reaaaaly fast, so make sure to get them quick! They’ll be the same as the units that are sold at the show.

Comparison Pics of X-Men Origins: Wolverine Deluxe Deadpool

Fwoosher blue devil found the deluxe version of Deadpool from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine line at a Toys R Us in the Vancouver area, and shared some comparison pictures of it with the earlier single-carded release.

Both costumes are from the recent Cable & Deadpool series, and while the costume differences are subtle, the deluxe version depicts the costume he sported later during Patrick Zircher’s run, while the earlier single-carded version looks most like how he was depicted at the start of the series by UDON.

While I like the looks of both, I am more partial to the later costume, and with the extra mass and height of the figure, it’s the clear winner for me.

Pics of Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles Wave 1 – CoolToyReview.com

Cool Toy Review just published a great interview with Scott George, Dave Vonner, and Josh Lamb, members of the Hasbro Marvel team, talking about their 3 3/4-inch offerings, Marvel Universe, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Secret Wars.

Lots of interesting tidbits.  Among them:

  • They are considering rebooting the numbering of the line, like how comics have different volumes and restart at issue #1.  This hasn’t been decided.
  • We may see new artists doing packaging art.  Frank Cho has done about 35 drawings (should take us through the end of this year), Joe Quesada did the Comic-Con exclusives, and Bob Layton did the Secret Wars Comic 2-packs.
  • Nick Fury (the exclusive currently offered with a subscription to a Marvel Digital Comics subscription) will no longer be #025 in the Marvel Universe line.  Electro will be swapped in, so that MOC collectors can have consistent packaging.
  • Secret Wars will be out in four waves with three 2-packs each.  They’ll go through spring 2010.

Finally, they put up some pictures of the first wave of Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles (Captain America / Skrull Giant Man, Iron Man / Goliath), due out this fall.  There will be a blue and red variant Goliath.  Click through to the interview for the full-sized pics.

If you’ve been following our teaser reports over the past few days, then you might have been able to fit the pieces of the puzzle together and figure out exactly which character we’re announcing for the first time right here on Cool Toy Review.

Check out the packaging photos of the upcoming Wal-Mart exclusive Gigantic Battles sets of Captain America Vs. Skrull Giant Man and the Iron Man with Goliath, but also for the first time mentioned anywhere…it’s the red & blue costumed variation of Goliath, who will also come with the “pointy mask” Iron Man figure.

Each set will also come with a special reprint comic book, showing the inspiration for the characters in the set.

Teaser Pic of Hot Toys X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Hot Toys X-Men: Origins Wolverine

Hot Toys X-Men: Origins Wolverine

The guys at Collectible News (a German movie collectibles site) uncovered this teaser pic.

This was announced back in April.

He is not an animal!

He is X-men – Wolverine – In 2008 Summer, the first Sci-fi movie to hit the box office was the Iron Man, and we were more than happy to bring you the three generations of Iron Man! In 2009, who will be the first superhero to reveal on the big screen?

Here he is – the Wolverine from X-men Origins: Wolverine – a hero who never gets old or die!

In this movie, the story tells about how Logan became Wolverine and the enmity between himself and his brother – Sabretooth. Our Hot Toys team can’t wait anymore to watch this most anticipated Marvel superhero movie, because…… we are ready to bring you the Wolverine 12 inches limited edition collectibles very soon, exciting right?

Meanwhile, let’s buy your ticket online and enjoy the movie before our next announcement.

AFP’s Hasbro Marvel Q&A Roundup – 5/29/9

The Hasbro Marvel team checks in for the latest round of Q&A.

1. We’ll start off with a couple of questions about Marvel Universe. Now that you’ve got a couple of waves of MU at retail, what have you learned about the 3 3/4-inch market for Marvel? How might that have influenced the line for 2010?

The reception for Marvel Universe has been tremendous and we’re already hard at work on our plans for 2010.

2. Will the Marvel Universe Fan’s Choice picks be made as single carded figures for retail, or are you thinking of other options?  For example, Winter Soldier could be part of an “Evolutions” set with Bucky and the Alex Ross-designed Captain America.  Archangel, Mystique, and Havok could be part of an X-Men box set or be comic-based figures in the Wolverine line.  Mary Jane would seem a more likely pick as a show exclusive.  Any hints for the two bonus picks?  (One guess is Psylocke – are we right?)

We’re leading off with the first Universe box set at SDCC…so we’re definitely looking at other possibilities outside the realm of single carded figures.  Just take a look at the slate for Fall exclusives: 3 different multi packs and 2 Gigantic Battles!  That’ll give you a good idea for where our heads are at.  Hint on one of the runner ups – you don’t want to mess with him.
