Still on a Star Trek high from seeing Into Darkness this weekend? Entertainment Earth wants you to Trek Into Discounts! Yeah, I know, it’s horrible, and I wish I could claim credit for it, but that’s what they wrote in the email notifying me of the 20% discount Entertainment Earth is offering on most of their in stock Star Trek gear. It includes a lot of great stuff from Diamond Select Toys, Hasbro, NECA, and more.

By Ron, on May 20th, 2013 The hype is building for Man of Steel, and Hot Toys is in on the action with teasers of their 1/6 scale figures for Superman and Jor-El. I am assuming that Zod is a foregone conclusion.
I think these are looking good so far (as expected), but we’ll have to see how the headsculpts match up to Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe. Mattel has already set the bar with the Man of Steel Movie Masters, which is notable considering the smaller 6-inch scale.
Man of Steel collectible figures are coming!

One of the most anticipated blockbusters this summer, Man of Steel will begin to hit theaters worldwide next month! Audience will get to take a new look at the origin and rise of an iconic superhero. We know that fans have been eagerly waiting, and we are very excited and happy to inform you today that the collectible figures of Man of Steel will be coming soon!

Hasbro has released their official pictures and description for what should be one of their more popular exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con. On top of the packaged shots of the Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett that were revealed through USA Today, they’ve included pictures of the Boba Fett figure and his bounty, Han Solo frozen in carbonite. The new pics give us a closer look at the articulation setup on Boba. Of particular note, it looks like he’s got wrist hinges – allowing more natural two-handed poses with his Blas Tech EE-3 rifle.
I’ve had a chance to do more thinking about the $44.99 price, which seems a bit steep. At more than double the $19.99 price point that’s expected at retail for single figures in the Star Wars Black Series, it might be tempting to wait for his eventual re-release in the line. I’m fairly certain they will do this, most likely with the Return of the Jedi deco – there’s a precedent with the Marvel Legends Thor that launched the Return of Marvel Legends line.

The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, opens July 3 in the US, but the 7-inch action figures from NECA are available now. NECA has singles of the Lone Ranger and Tonto on their eBay store. Anyone heard anything about a 3.75-inch line?
There’s a lot more action figures available on the NECA eBay store.

If you’ve been wavering about the poseability (or lack thereof) of the upcoming Star Trek Select action figures, this may help. Diamond Select Toys has posted that the parts that come with the Star Trek Select Kirk and Spock are interchangeable between figures. That includes the hands and lower torsos – my biggest gripe has been that the legs on these figures are static, but since you can swap between figures, that opens up a lot more posing options.
They also solved the mystery of why Spock comes with two Tricorders – one is open, and the other is closed. I do wonder why including two was more economical than including one that could just open and close, but I suppose the extra accessories will pay off if more crew members from the Original Series make it out in this line.

It seems like a long time since Hot Toys announced anything that wasn’t Iron Man related, so don’t be disappointed that this is not diecast or armor plated. While I’ve bought several Hot Toys figures from the Dark Knight series, I’ve resisted getting anything from the 1989 Michael Keaton version. Not that I disliked the movie – in fact, I loved it – but the aesthetic of the newer designs appeal to me more.
Still, I was tempted by the original Nicholson Joker, but this one seems to capture Nicholson a bit better.

Iron Man is still going strong in theaters, though I expect Star Trek will take over the top spot this weekend. LEGO has the Marvel (and DC) license, but Star Trek is with Hasbro in the KRE-O building set brand – so LEGO is riding shotgun with this Iron Man promotion for a free set. The LEGO Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone is a $4.99 set, and you don’t necessarily have to buy Marvel LEGOs to get it.
For example, you might go nuts over these Lone Ranger LEGO sets – cowboys, Indians, and trains? That’s LEGO heaven, Kemosabe.
FREE Exclusive, Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone with purchases of $50 or more! Valid. 5.16.13 – 5.31.13
- FREE Iron Man™ vs. Fighting Drone set with any purchase of $50 or more
- Valid: June 16-31st or while supplies last
- No Code Required

I had posted this deal to get the Star Trek reboot as a movie download on iTunes with the official pics of the Diamond Select Toys Star Trek Select Captain Kirk, but with the sequel opening tomorrow (or is it today?), it deserves to be highlighted again.
It’s a simple deal – buy your tickets to Star Trek Into Darkness on Fandango, and they’ll send you a download code that you can use on iTunes to get Star Trek (2009) as a digital download. The offer is good until the end of May (or while supplies last – although I don’t really understand how they could run out of a digital download), so if you don’t want to face the crowds at the multiplex on opening weekend, take your time. I’ve tried to avoid as much of the hype / spoilers for this one, but I’m still pretty psyched to see it. What about you?

Here’s some deals for DC Universe Classics customizers:
- Batman Legacy Catwoman Collector Figure – $9.88 – this classic Catwoman from the Batman Legacy line was a highly sought after version of Selina Kyle but ultimately peg-warmed – she’s got a nice blank body, high-heeled boots, skirt, and a cape
- DC Universe Young Justice 6″ Artemis Figure – $9.28 – the 6-inch Young Justice line tanked at retail – the show getting canceled didn’t help, but the $20+ price point was the clincher – Artemis comes with a mostly blank body with the exception of some buckled boots, but as a deluxe figure she also has a compound bow, quiver, and arrows
- DC Universe Young Justice 6″ Aqualad Figure – $8.33 – accompanying Artemis is Aqualad from the deluxe Young Justice line, also discounted deeply – another blank body aside from the Aqua-buckle and fins on his calves, he comes with a bunch of translucent water accessories and also has some useful bare feet
I Am Your Fodder highlights action figures that are cheap and would make interesting customizing fodder.
