DC Universe Classics Wave 19 Revealed – MTV Geek Exclusive

Our friends at MTV Geek have got an exclusive first look at DC Universe Classics Wave 19 – the JSA wave!

Wave 19 will feature classic Wesley Dodds Sandman, Al Pratt Atom, Carter Hall Hawkman, Lord Naga from Kobra, Magog, Stargirl, and the Collect & Connect STRIPE.

Be sure to click through to MTV Geek for the full-size images and bios for each character.

Lately DCUC has featured themed lineups, to many a fan’s aggravation as they patiently wait to complete their various classic teams. While the upcoming Wave 19 is themed as well, it features mostly classic interpretations of the Justice Society of America and their villains. That’s right, a JSA wave – and we’ve got both the first pics AND the complete bios for all of the figures in the lineup, including a shot of the Collect & Connect figure: S.T.R.I.P.E.!

  1. Awwwww yeah! That is awesome news! I really like the repurpose of STEL for S.T.R.I.P.E. too.

  2. This is a rare DCUC situation where I could see myself picking up the whole wave. I don’t really buy DCUC anymore because of the price, but every one of these figures looks like a win.

  3. For the last few years Dc Classics has been the only action figures I’ve collected but I’m sad to say that I’ve become quite tired of this line.

When it first came out it filled perfectly the 6″ action figure void left by Hasbro’s terrible attempt at the Marvel line and of course finally gave us decent articulation for DC Universe characters.

Mattel’s sculpts were so perfectly clean, no ugly ball joints in sight. With sharp paintwork and excellent quality control no one could touch this line (they still can’t) yet after a while that reuse of the same 3/4 body sculpts is starting to wear thin.

Where once I was so excited to crack the figure out and see how it moved, I now know no matter who the character is, they will always feel, move and stand the same way – I’m bored.

Also the last few lines have been weak, I had no idea who half the figures were!

I feel like such an ungrateful wretch saying this.

On a more positive note that S.T.R.I.P.E. figure looks fab, I just hope Mattel produces a golden age Star Spangled Kid as a variant to Stargirl!

Also where’s my Jay Garrick Flash and Professor Zoom figures?!!!

I think I’ve had enough of Hal Jordan now.

  4. I feel ya, Stevie.
The body reuse makes many many figures boring. And while the Black Hand was an amazing new piece – eh? The Black Hand? Really? That’s where the tooling budget went?

Here it’s Magog. I’ll get him.

I’ll continue to pick out unique pieces, cause even this Sandman, who I think looks really really keen, is almost the same toy as my Question.

  5. Well, I see Steve and Strangeplanet feel as I do. Even though S.T.R.I.P.E.S is cool and all but the reusing the parts is getting old real fast! I hope Marvel BAF never fallow this way of thinking! Hawkman…as many different versions that are out there, we could of seen something really collectible here! Once again DC is failing to control what is being offered to the collectors.
