Diamond Select Toys Announces Minimates Vehicles Line

Interesting announcement from DST.   I can see how the DeLorean is a natural extension for their Back to the Future Minimates.  T2 is a bigger stretch – the vehicles there weren’t as integral to the story as the DeLorean was to BTTF or the Vipers and Raiders were to Battlestar Galactica.  Minimates M.A.X. is the biggest surprise – I don’t remember the last time DST made any products for an original, unlicensed property.  Have they ever?

New Minimates Vehicle Line in 2010!

One of the most frequent questions we get from fans of our Minimates lines inquires about the possibility of Minimate vehicles from their favorite pop culture properties.  Earlier this year we launched our first foray into Mini-Vehicles with the Mark VII Viper and Cylon Raider from the hit sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica and now that we’ve tested the waters, the Mini-Vehicle line is ready to go into overdrive!

Projected for a Spring 2010 release, our debut assortment of Mini-Vehicles features some of the most iconic and memorable rides of all time combined with exclusive Minimate releases sure to thrill kids of all ages!  Each vehicle is in perfect Minimate scale for two Minimate passengers and also includes a bonus Minimate – all either new versions of your favorite characters or exclusive Minimate debuts!

The first three rides to be included in this exciting line will be Back to the Future’s post-time-travel Frozen DeLorean, Terminator 2’s devastating Battle Damaged Hunter Killer Tank and a Minimates debut – the Minimates M.A.X. Red Stealth Jet!  Fans should be familiar with those first two, while the Minimates M.A.X. (Mobile Action Xtreme) brand is new to DST and will feature an array of vehicles designed entirely by Art Asylum.

A complementary wave of Minimates Vehicles will also appear in Toys R Us stores nationwide this spring, including alternate versions of each vehicle and new Minimate pilots for each release.  Series 1 will include a time-bending DeLorean, an undamaged Hunter Killer Tank and a black version of the Minimates M.A.X. Stealth Jet.

Whether tampering with the timeline, battling human resistance fighters or sneaking across enemy lines; these planes, trains and automobiles push the limits of the Minimates brand like never before. Look for more information on this stunning new line during next year’s American International Toy Fair and keep your eyes peeled for more exciting news and announcements in the coming months from Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum!

Diamond Select Toys Back to the Future 3 DeLorean Time Machine

If you’re a fan of the Back to the Future 1/18 scale vehicles, Diamond Select Toys is completing the trilogy with the DeLorean from Back to the Future 3.  My favorite was the one from Back to the Future 2, so I’m a little bummed I didn’t pick one up when it was available.

Sending you Back to the Future one more time

After the success of our previous Back to the Future time machines we are coming back with the best time machine from the entire trilogy! That’s right, the version that sent Marty back to the future for the last time. Featuring white wall tires, old west style time machine workings on the hood and a healthy coating of dirt and dust this will be the version you want to have. Just don’t let it fall into Eastwood ravine!

1:1 Scale DeLorean from Back to the Future

OK, so the 1:1 scale reference was a bit of a joke, because this isn’t a model or toy – it’s an actual DeLorean that’s been painstakingly modified to replicate the time machine from Back to the Future, and it’s available on eBay.  If only I had a hundred grand and change sitting around.

Ah well, there’s always the 1:18 scale version. 😀

Actual Great Moments in De-Evolution: DeLorean Time Machine

How awesome is this?? An almost exact replica of Doc Brown’s DeLorean from Back to the Future is available to purchase over eBay. It’s not the actual model used in the totally awesome trilogy, but according to the seller, it’s even better!

This car is what you want, a car that looks exactly like what you saw in the film, with all the cool lights, sounds and buttons you thought the car in the film had (but never really did). People are often really disappointed when they see a prop up close. Movie props are designed to be filmed from a distance, but this car truly looks and feels “real” even up close.

Holy crap!! This is mindblowing! There’s a bunch of cool stuff about the car that I’d tell you about, but my eyes started to glaze over when I saw all the text.

The seller is hoping someone wants to buy this replica for almost $130,000. Here’s where the De-evolution part comes in: some people are dumb enough to spend that much money on a time machine car that doesn’t even work.

….Or does it? BRB.
