Who’s Ready to Buy New Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and Transformers?

You may still be recovering from the holidays, but to Hasbro and the online retailers, it’s a new year. And that means new toys designed to part you from your hard earned cash!

Hasbro has given the green light for online retailers to list new product assortments for the first quarter of 2015, and so we’re seeing pre-order pages for new Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and Transformer Combiner Wars… My wallet’s about to take a beating. Who’s with me?

Marvel Legends

  • All-Father Wave Case – Thor, Iron Fist, Machine Man, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Sentry, and 2x Hawkeye – you’d have to get another Thor and Iron Fist to have 2 complete BAFs of Odin and Thor – Entertainment Earth, $159.99 with free US shipping – recommended
  • All-Father Wave Case – BigBadToyStore, $159.99
  • All-Father Wave (Set of 7) – Thor, Iron Fist, Machine Man, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Sentry, and Hawkeye – you’d have to get Thor, Iron Fist, and Hawkeye to complete a second BAF – BigBadToyStore, $154.99
  • Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wave 3 Case – Daredevil, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider Woman, 2x Classic Spider-Man, and 2x Anti-Venom – Entertainment Earth, $159.99 with free US shipping
  • Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wave 3 Case – Daredevil, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider Woman, 2x Classic Spider-Man, and 2x Anti-Venom – BigBadToyStore, $159.99
  • Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wave 3 (Set of 6) – Daredevil, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider Woman, Classic Spider-Man, and Anti-Venom – BigBadToyStore, $139.99 – recommended

For the All-Father wave, I would go with the Entertainment Earth case option, especially if you’re looking to complete both BAFs. That leaves you with just two single-carded figures to pick up for the extra legs. It’s the free US shipping that tips it in EE’s favor.

Conversely, it’s the 6-figure set at BBTS that I’d recommend for wave 3 of Spidey. That’s assuming you don’t want the hassle of reselling the doubles. I’ll probably still get the case from EE and do a Free Stuff giveaway for a Spidey and Anti-Venom pair.

Star Wars Black Series

For the deluxe figures, I’d think about seeing how they do first. The Speeder Bike is stillĀ on sale at Amazon and unfortunately the case assortment doubles up on Han Solo. If Han follows the same pattern as the Speeder Bike and Jabba, then waiting for Amazon is likely your best bet. If you want a sure thing, then right now EE has the best price at $39.99 for him.

Transformer Combiner WarsEntertainment Earth, BigBadToyStore

I’m not a big Transformers collector, so I can’t really make a recommendation here. Both have figures available individually and in sets. BBTS also has cases to pre-order. In general, if you’re placing a big order, I like EE for the free shipping. Incrementally, BBTS has the Big Pile of Loot option – shipping still adds up, but in smaller chunks since you’re combining items over time.

Here’s links to all the Hasbro items at Entertainment Earth (sort by “Newly Added to Web” for the latest) and the new Hasbro items at BigBadToyStore. Happy shopping!
