Those of you who have known me for a while know that I am a big Cosmic Odyssey fan. And while many people think that DC Universe Classics is a toy line paying homage to Super Powers, my fandom has helped me realize the incontrovertible truth that DCUC is actually a toy line for Cosmic Odyssey*.
However, long before DCUC Wave 11 was announced, my collection was sorely missing two characters – the Green Lantern John Stewart and the Martian Manhunter J’onn J’onnz. When RoboKillah from the Fwoosh made his custom John Stewart, I knew that I would need to enlist him to create one for me in the costume John wore in Cosmic Odyssey. It wasn’t easy, but me sending him fodder unsolicited combined with my incessant whining resulted in this fine custom.
Robo followed the recipe he used on his original John Stewart custom – it’s a Green Lantern base (either a 2-pack Hal Jordan or Abin Sur) with a Mr. Terrific head. While keeping a figure playable isn’t always on Robo’s list of customizing priorities, he knew I like to play with my toys before putting them on a shelf never to be moved again. The use of the 2-pack body was ideal for this since the shoulders are completely black and allow this custom to remain poseable.
Hey, look! The back’s painted too, probably because Robo knew I’d take a pic of it. 😀 I also like how he handled John’s short shorts. And I may customize for the rest of my life and still never be able to paint eyes like Robo can.
So on this Thanksgiving Day, a big thanks to Robokillah for getting my Cosmic Odyssey display one figure closer to being complete. And Happy Thanksgiving to all the AFP readers out there – enjoy your holiday!

- 2009: Adam Strange (although I made a custom Adam Strange in his classic costume), Starfire, Dr. Fate, Parademon, Superman, Forager, and John Stewart
- 2010: Darkseid C&C and finally Martian Manhunter (ok, its just a rumor, but c’mon, it’s time, right?)
