Why Didn’t I Think of This? – Diamond Select Toys Marvel Minimates Fastball Special

This awesome picture is from Diamond Select Toys’ Facebook page, showing Wolverine and Colossus from Marvel Minimates Series 47 (47?! crazy, right?) executing their signature Fastball Special. I’m jealous that I never thought of taking a picture like this before.

There’s a ton more pics of the Outback X-Men and Brood series here: Marvel Minimates Series 47. Enjoy!

I Wish I Had Hasbro KRE-O G.I. JOE Toys When I Was a Kid

Despite a brief love affair with Star Wars LEGOs over a decade ago, construction toys aren’t in my current line-up of stuff I collect as an adult. I was sorely tempted when Hasbro announced their KRE-O building sets for its G.I. JOE brand.

You see, when I was a kid, one of my first action figures was a 12-inch JOE, and that translated into a love of the 3.75-inch figures when I was a little older. Back in the day I also had a lot of love for LEGO, but that was long before they had branched into licensed properties.

So, the combination of G.I. JOE and KRE-Os hits on a few strong nostalgic notes for me. That they included a throwback to the original fuzzy-haired 12-inch figure as one of their single-packed figures isn’t helping me resist them.

Keep on the lookout for G.I. JOE KRE-O sets and figures starting February next year at Toys R Us. Yo JOE!

McFarlane and NECA Terminator Quick Pics

I’m a huge fan of the Terminator movie franchise – well, to be more accurate, I’m a huge fan of the first two movies in the franchise – and the action figures from McFarlane and NECA are great representations of the characters. But I’m out of space in the toy room, so I snapped some quick pictures of these figures before I list them for auction.

I didn’t start picking these up until NECA got the license. The T-850 with coffin and the T-X were part of my father-in-law’s collection – he was very fond of women who kick ass, and Kristanna Loken’s Terminatrix fit the bill. I ended up picking up a McFarlane endoskeleton on eBay before NECA made their own. I’d probably have a lot more of the NECA figures but had trouble finding them at retail.

(Return of) Marvel Legends Custom Classic Punisher

RoML Punisher Custom-005.JPG

Yes, I made a Punisher custom, even though Hasbro just released a perfectly good Punisher figure as part of the third wave of (Return of) Marvel Legends. And it’s not that I dislike the figure that’s on shelves now – I love the head sculpt and just wanted to see it on a classic spandex-clad Punisher instead of the trenchcoat version we got.

Mattel has released hi-res versions of the Castle Grayskull pics in their New York Comic Con panel slideshow, and the pre-order page for the Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull is now live.
