NECA Boondock Saints Figures Hit Stores in November

I admit it – I never saw the Boondock Saints movie, so when I saw the brothers in plastic form at San Diego Comic-Con I had no idea what they were.  But, with a sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, coming out next month, I can see why NECA has picked up the license for the first movie, which is a must-see cult classic, according to my movie nerd friends.

The trailer for the sequel was released a couple of days ago at IGN.  For more NECA pictures, check out: San Diego Comic-Con NECA Pics.

Say Your Prayers

New Boondock Saints line has guns at the ready!

BoondockSaints

Connor and Murphy McManus are coming for you, and they brought their pennies.

The story of vigilante / religious nutball brothers who take to the mean streets of Boston on a brutal and murderous quest to rid the city of organized crime, Boondock Saints has become one of the true cult classics of the 21st Century. Developing a word-of-mouth DVD audience after a limited theatrical release in 1999, it has defied time, logic and criticism to attain the status of a true phenomenon. Don’t worry, there’s a sequel in the works.

And just in time for the 10th anniversary of the movie’s original release, NECA is psyched beyond belief to unveil our new 7″ scale Connor and Murphy, seen here in a movie-accurate pose ready to take a bite out of crime, execution-style. Each highly-detailed figure comes with a pistol and interchangeable head and plenty of pious justice to unleash on the gang underworld!

Connor McManus and Murphy McManus hit stores in November, and of course they’ll also be available online at our Amazon storefront.

Masters of the Universe Classics Moss Man Flocking Update from Mattel

Mattel has provided a quick update on the fate of Moss Man – flocked it is!  No pics yet, but here were some of the options presented by Mattel and the industrious and imaginative Masters of the Universe Classics fans.

moss-man-options

I imagine the “spot flocked” version to be the closest to what we get, although I am sure that how they actually flock these babies won’t allow for as smooth a transition as presented here.

And for those that missed our interview with Toy Guru, he revealed that Moss Man will have his distinctive smell.  Booyah!

Update on Moss Man

Hey He-Fans,

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breath for news on our favorite Eternian Master of Nature and all around nice guy – Moss Man.

As many of you know, we really wanted to fully flock Moss Man just like his vintage counterpart but found that the new levels of articulation were preventing all of the flocking from sticking. While a lot of fans have been asking about new innovations in the flocking industry, to tell you the truth, the process really has not changed that much in the last 30 years!

We tried out a few solutions including not flocking him at all, losing some of the articulation, or partially flocking him.

Well the resounding response from the fans was that Moss Man must be flocked as much as possible. So, with that in mind, we are going to flock Moss Man as much as we can. It won’t be a complete flock due to the joints, but we don’t want to loose any of the awesome articulation either.

We don’t have images yet, but as soon as we do we’ll share them with all the fans.

Until then, good journey!

Matty

Hot Toys Terminator Salvation Marcus Wright Headsculpt Pic

It’s very tough to resist going whole hog into the 1/6 scale when I see stuff like this.  I thought the Terminator Salvation movie was fine as a summer popcorn flick (T2 is still the king of the franchise), but hadn’t really had the urge to buy any toys from the movie… until now.

Marcus Wright: Look at me…

Interview with Mattel Associate Brand Manager Scott Neitlich – Part 3

You’ve been waiting for it, and VeeBee (it’s not my fault!) has kept you in suspense.  Here’s the final installment of our San Diego Comic-Con chat with Mattel Associate Brand Manager, Scott Neitlich.  He’s the man that brings us our DC, Masters of the Universe and Ghost Busters figures!  Contained within is an all out shootout of questions and answers from all of the lines that Scott oversees. And yeah, he drops some gems!

This article is reprinted from TheFwoosh.com, and there’s a discussion thread here: Fwoosh Interview with Toy Guru!

You can read the rest of the interview here:

Fwoosh: Since it looks like we still have a few minutes, let’s circle back real quick and discuss rights as they pertain to DCUC. A lot of fans are saying that DC Classics is the second coming of the Super Powers line and many fans of the original line are wondering if you have the rights to the characters that were created purely for that line.

Scott Neitlich: Oh, you mean like Cyclotron and Golden Pharaoh?

F: Yes.

SN: Oh, wait until 2010! We have some great stuff coming down for fans of Super Powers next year. It’s no secret that we are big fans of Super Powers with the variants of Steppenwolf and the Parademon, so hopefully people are picking up on some of the hints that are being made for 2010- just want and see what we have in store. Same with some of the characters that we are doing in JLU with Samurai.

DC Infinite Heroes Hal Jordan First Flight Promo

F: Infinite Heroes – it looks like you guys are making a major push to up the articulation on these guys with the Public Enemies assortment. Is that where the whole line is going?

SN: Yeah, you will see new stuff getting integrated all the time. In fact, we just sculpted up a new villain figure that is just unbelievable, it is probably one of the best 3 3/4 figures I have ever seen.

One of the first things that Bill and I did when we came on with it was go back to the drawing board and revamp it with a lot of things that we as toy fans would like to see in it. So, we are getting all new bucks and starting a bit from scratch and infusing some new blood into it to make it stronger than it has ever been.

DC Universe Classics Wave 12 Revealed in Toyfare

Darkseid is the DC Universe Classics Wave 12 Collect and Connect Figure
Darkseid is the DC Universe Classics Wave 12 Collect and Connect Figure

The action figure community exploded yesterday when some subscribers received the upcoming issue of Toyfare a week early – it contains the reveal of the lineup for DC Universe Classics wave 12 that should arrive at retail after an interminably long wait of 4 to 5 months, in the 1st quarter of 2010.  Wave 12 will contain Copperhead, DeSaad, Eclipso, Iron, Mary Marvel, Doctor Mid-Nite, and the Spectre.  A newly-sculpted Darkseid will be the collect and connect figure.

While this lineup has been heavily rumored for some time – I think intrepid investigators are successfully mining the Wal-Mart computer systems and their friendly neighborhood or online retailers – there was still at least one surprise in store.
