Hot Toys Announces G. I. Joe Retaliation Storm Shadow

Hot Toys GI JOE Retaliation Storm Shadow 1

When Hot Toys closed out 2012 by announcing the G.I. Joe Retaliation Snake Eyes, I couldn’t wait for the accompanying announcement for Storm Shadow – and they announced the Cobra Ninja last night. However, I’m a little disappointed they didn’t get his design a little closer to the comics, like they did with Snake Eyes. I just can’t picture a ninja wearing a trench coat. The new body includes a light-up ARC reactor in his chest, and there’s all the workshop goodies too.

Hot Toys Expanding Product Offerings with Diecast Figures and Premium Format Statues

Hot Toys Iron Man 3 Power Pose Mark XLII 1

Hot Toys is expanding beyond its current line-up of high-end action figures with a new series of even higher-end diecast figures and a new premium format statue with interchangeable parts. Both announcements are centered on their various Iron Man brands – collectively the biggest performer for them.

Iron Man is a natural fit for diecast – with no specific product to launch it, I wonder just how much Play Imaginative’s announced diecast Iron Man (already available for pre-order from BBTS) is driving this move. Statues also seem a little out of Hot Toys’ wheelhouse, but you can’t fault them for looking for a bigger piece of the collectibles pie.
