Four Horsemen Announce Delay to Kickstarter Gothitropolis Ravens – But Looks to be Worth It
We’d heard from the Four Horsemen that there were some issues with the sizing of the Gothitropolis Ravens and were expecting some delays to come from that. They’ve just announced that they expect it to be about a 2 month delay. Originally targeted at March, this would mean May at the soonest.
I continue to be very bullish on this project – the 4H have always striven to deliver quality products, and when they’ve had missteps they’ve corrected them. While I’d love to have my ravens now, I’m happy to wait for them to get it right. They’ve shared a ton of pics – it looks like they’re making great progress.
MASSIVE GOTHITROPOLIS RAVENS UPDATE PART 1!!
We know you’ve been waiting for a while since the last update to find out what’s going on with the production on the Gothitropolis Ravens figures we’ve been working on for you. We wanted to wait until we knew for certain what was happening with them before we passed that news on to you.
Below and in the next couple of updates you’ll see an incredible amount of images of the 6” scaled fine cut work that the factory’s been doing on these for us, and we think you’ll agree that besides a couple of misplaced items and a tiny bit of clean up left to do, these things are looking spectacular!
This is where the issue comes in… We’ve been keeping you updated about the work that our factory was doing for us and we’d mentioned before that there were a couple of hiccups that looked as if they might delay things a bit. Well, those hiccups turned into really loud belches, and we decided to pull the tooling work from that factory because they just weren’t holding up to the standards we’ve set for our products. We want to make sure the people buying our work are completely happy with what they get in the final product and that factory just wasn’t cutting the mustard to be perfectly frank. We will post comparison shots of what that factory was doing compared to what’s being done now and you’ll see why we decided to do this. There’s not so great news and spectacular news that comes along with this…
As you’ve probably guessed by now, this is definitely going to delay production on the Gothitropolis Ravens figures. We’re not 100% certain but it looks as if we’re going to be approximately 2 months behind schedule at this point. We really do apologize for this, but it’s completely unexpected to us and in order to deliver the finest quality action figures that we possibly can, we just had to pull the tooling work from that factory and have it done elsewhere.
That was the not so great news. Now the spectacular news… Remember a few years back when we released another awesome little action figure in the Gothitropolis line called Scarabus? Yeah, that demonic overlord that had more incredibly intricate detail than any action figure released that year? The figure that won multiple toy industry “best of” awards, and is still the all-time favorite figure in many action figure fans’ collections? Well, because of the problems we were facing, we did a little research and we recently found that we were going to be able to use some of the same resources that made the Scarabus figures as amazing as they were, and now some of the same talented people who did the incredible fine cut tooling pattern work on all of the Scarabus figures are also doing all of the fine cut tooling pattern work on our Gothitropolis Ravens figures! It’s going to cost us a little more money than we’d expected to do this extra step in the process, but we just couldn’t allow what was going on with the other factory to continue to happen knowing that it was going to ultimately result in an inferior figure compared to what our fans normally expect from us.
The images you see below came in to us last week and they’re an example of the painstaking effort that they’re putting into these things to make them the absolute best that they can possibly be.
So once again, allow us to humbly apologize for the delay this little sidestep is causing but we know now that you’re going to love the final product when you get it into your hands and that matters more to us than anything else.
