And speaking of Star Wars Day, Hasbro has just revealed their SDCC exclusive for the upcoming Star Wars Black Series. It’s fan favorite Boba Fett, with a carbonite-encased Han Solo. Impressive. Most impressive.
Boba Fett figure to debut at Comic-Con, with Solo in tow
Detailed ‘Star Wars’ toy from Hasbro comes packaged with the ultimate accessory: Han Solo in carbonite.
One of the collectible toys that Hasbro will have available exclusively at the pop-culture event this year is a detailed 6-inch Boba Fett action figure from the new Star Wars Black Series. What’s even better is that he comes packaged with two weapons, his iconic jet pack and the ultimate accessory: Han Solo frozen in carbonite.
Kids of all ages can relive the moments in the Cloud City of Bespin during The Empire Strikes Back where Boba Fett hauls off his prey, or the scenes in Return of the Jedi where the iconic bounty hunter has taken Solo to Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tattooine.
The special-edition set is priced at $44.99 and will be sold at the Hasbro booth at the San Diego Convention Center July 18-21.
I think I’ve lost any geek cred I ever had. I had no idea that April 28th was Masters of the Universe Day, and that tomorrow, May 4th, is Star Wars Day! And we have another politician to thank – the May 4 Star Wars Day is attributable to the U.K.’s recently departed Margaret Thatcher. True story.
It’s actually a re-announcement, for those of you paying attention, since Warner Bros. had introduced the Batusi Batman as part of a licensing launch announcement at Meltdown Comics back near the end of March. Since I wasn’t paying attention back then, the re-announcement suits me just fine. I am curious about the “internal mechanism” of the figure – is this some kind of action feature in the torso? I’ll have to look back at my earlier TV series Batman pics to see if the regular figures have ab articulation. (Yes, they have ab crunches.)
It’s the dance craze that swept the nation! For the first time ever, this Batusi Batman™ figure recreates the iconic dance from the BATMAN Classic TV series! Sculpted with authentic likeness and featuring a fabric cape, this figure has unique articulation and an internal mechanism that allows it to perform the Batusi. The diorama package features vintage-look art from Shag, and a sound feature plays music with a ‘60s vibe to perfectly capture the scene where Batman™ shows off his unique Batusi moves. The package is designed so the Batusi dance moves can be activated without removing the figure.
This product will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 4, 2013, to be picked up at San Diego Comic-Con (details to come). It will also be available for purchase at the show, then at MattyCollector.com on August 5, 2013.
With Iron Man 3 opening this Friday, I didn’t have a lot of time to post the AFP Free Stuff Giveaway – Hasbro Iron Man 3 Prize Pack earlier this week. So here’s the official pics and product descriptions from Hasbro.
And don’t delay – this prize pack has a total approximate retail price of about $71, and the contest closes tomorrow, Friday at Noon PST. Enter now!
We just saw the tweaks NECA is making to their 18-inch Adam West Batman, and they’ve now released a preview of their upcoming quarter scale Henry Cavill Superman from Man of Steel. While I’m not as taken with the likeness on this figure as I am with the one on Mattel’s Man of Steel Movie Masters, nevertheless I am thoroughly impressed with the rest of the sculpt and the amount of articulation (30+ points!) we’re seeing in a figure this size.
