DC Universe Classics Wave 13 Press Pics

Mattel has published the pics of DC Universe Classics wave 13 that originally started showing up on retailer sites a few weeks ago, but this set also includes the Collect & Connect Trigon as well as images of Cyclotron without his face plate.

It’s very interesting to see them move to double-jointed elbows and (perhaps) knees, as well as hinged wrists, on the modern Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle. I think if we asked Mattel (and we will), they would say that the make articulation decisions based on the character, using Green Arrow and his hinged wrists as an example. Jaime is definitely an acrobatic character, so the upgraded articulation makes sense, but I would like to see more characters articulated like him.

G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra Night Raven on Sale at ToysRUs.com

I’m not sure how long the Night Raven will be on sale for $19.98 – but it’s over half off.  Since it’s about half the size of the vintage Night Raven, if you were holding out because of the $44.99 retail price, you might want to pick one up now.

Night Raven Vehicle PackageNight Raven Cobra Vehicle w Cobra Viper2

M.A.R.S. Industries has developed an advanced hypersonic high-altitude attach and reconnaissance aircraft to rule the skies. Supremely fast and powerful, the suborbital NIGHT RAVEN cruises at a top speed of Mach 6 and deploys stealth technology, making it undetectable to even the most sophisticated tracking systems. Equipped with twin rotary launchers, the NIGHT RAVEN strikes its targets with infrared-guided IRG-42X missiles.

Rip-roaring adventure is coming your way, by way of this tough and ready-for-anything Night Raven aircraft with electronic lights and sounds! Lower the handle so you can “fly” this jet vehicle, put the Air-Viper figure in the cockpit and check your retractable landing gear. Then, zoom off and prepare to use this aircraft_s lock-and-load firing action and two rotating 6-missile launchers against unsuspecting opposing forces on the ground!

Includes Air-Viper action figure.

First Look – Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Armor He-Man – TheFwoosh.com

I loved my Battle Armor He-Man when I was a kid, and this figure captures everything that made it a great toy.  Since the armor is removable, I think I would have preferred to have flesh underneath it and sculpted abs instead of the smoothed out armor piece – that would have made the figure a little more versatile.  I may put this head and armor on my original He-Man.

If you are on the fence about this figure, I say go for it, he really is the best He-Man we have gotten in my opinion. If you are just now getting into the Masters line and don’t have a He-Man figure yet, you are in luck – this one will make a representation of the main Master on your shelf. I had always planned on getting this figure even though I was not sure what I was going to do with him. Well, this one will with Battle Cat – it’s like peanut butter and chocolate, they go great together. The one quibble I think most will find is that he only comes armed with his battle axe – no sword or shield. Remember, you have to be on Matty Collector on the 15th in order to get him!

Mattel Avatar Movie Figures 25% Off at ToysRUs.com

I’ve heard a couple times from a few collector friends that the toys from James Cameron’s Avatar started moving considerably faster after the movie hit.  I wouldn’t be surprised if that were true – the movie is so stunning visually, I can see that translating into more demand for the figures.

ToysRUs.com is running an Avatar promotion, and that should help move more product.  Most figures are 25% off, but the big vehicles and animals, which work for pretty much all the 3.75-inch scaled figure lines, are discounted more.

Happy hunting!
