Jazwares Announces Toys R Us and SDCC Exclusive Robot Chicken Convention Nerd

Jazwares is launching its Robot Chicken line at San Diego Comic-Con with the Convention Nerd, to which I take great offense. 🙂

Looks like Entertainment Earth will have a bunch of exclusives from the smaller companies. In addition to this Jazwares exclusive, they’re also the place to pick up exclusives like the Venture Bros. figures from Bif Bang Pow and Thundercats Lion-O statue from Icon Heroes. (Correction – the Thundercats Lion-O statue will be available at the ActionFigureXpress booth.)

San Diego Comic Con 2010 is just 2 weeks away, and Jazwares and Cartoon Network Enterprises are proud to announce the availability of the very first figure from the highly-anticipated Robot Chicken toy line!

Toys“R”Us Exclusive “Convention Nerd” from Jazwares!

Now, fans can recreate their favorite Robot Chicken parodies, such as the Nerd’s visit to a Sci-Fi convention with this 5-inch action figure. Complete with a Top Hat, Sandwich, Magical Unicorn Mayonnaise Jar, Adult Swim swag bag and a 2010 San Diego Comic-Con t-shirt, the iconic Robot Chicken Nerd character is ready to geek out with fans.

“Convention Nerd” will ONLY be available at Entertainment Earth’s booth #2343 throughout the con and on Toysrus.com for $20*.

Plus fans can come meet the creators of Adult Swim’s Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken and get their Convention Nerd autographed when Seth Green and Matt Senreich will be signing the figure at Entertainment Earth’s booth #2343 Friday July 23 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Fans who are not able to attend the show can still purchase the exclusive Toys“R”Us San Diego Comic-Con merchandise online at Toysrus.com/Collectibles starting Wednesday, July 21.

However, there is a limited number of each item, so fans should visit Entertainment Earth at booth #2343 or Toysrus.com/Collectibles early to purchase their Comic Con exclusives.

And be sure to pick up a copy of ToyFare #157 (available July 15) for exclusive pics of the rest of the line!

Customizing Tips From The Buzzy Cave: Masters of the Universe Classics Hand Mod

Passing on some tips, tricks or minutiae for action figure customizing.

MOTUC Hand Mod 001

Howdy from the dark, dank Buzzy Cave!

When I first saw the news about the Masters of the Universe Classics line from Mattel the first thing I thought was, “Cool! Barbarian figures to make custom barbarians with!” Then a couple things put me off the idea – the biggest reason being the tiny hands. I can’t stand the way they look. I understand that Mattel and the Four Horsemen are incorporating a lot of the aesthetic from the original He-Man/MOTU line in MOTUC and the small hands are part of that package, but the little hands on the end of those huge arms really bugged me. But recently I’ve seen some very cool customs made with MOTUC bases and I’ve been inspired to try using them for a couple projects, which leads us here: how to fix those hideous, tiny hands!

Mattel Reveals Exclusive Chase Variant for Ghostbusters Retro Action Peter Venkman

I guess the San Diego Comic-Con experience wouldn’t be complete without a chase variant from Mattel. In the past couple of years, there was the clear DC Super Heroes Man-Bat, the bronze Masters of the Universe Classics King Grayskull, and the Toy Story “Andy” stamped Buzz Lightyear, among others.

This year it’s the green-skinned Ghostbusters Retro Action Peter Venkman, from the first season episode “Citizen Ghost” – it will be randomly-packed and available only at SDCC. This begs the question if Mattel will ever make variants for the other three Ghostbusters.

SDCC REVEAL! Ghostbusters Retro Action Peter Venkman

Retro Action is coming to the Ghostbusters with this “Citizen Ghost” Peter figure from the animated series “The Real Ghostbusters”! Peter talks with 3 phrases right from the show. Also includes proton pack and wand. Special variant for SDCC is an all Ecto Slime version of Peter with clear green skin. This variant is randomly packed and available only at the show! While supplies last.

Masters of the Universe Classics Optikk – Space Mutant Spy for Skeletor

I’m definitely a cherry-picker when it comes to the Masters of the Universe Classics line. My collection, up until recently, consisted only of both versions of King Grayskull (snagged at SDCC) and Battle Cat (thanks to superdoug, a very good friend and MOTUC collector). But when I saw the reveal of Optikk, I thought he looked like something straight off a Silver Age Justice League of America comic cover and immediately wanted 2 of them to menace my growing DCUC JLA.
