Twilight New Moon Contest at ToysRUs.com

Twilight New Moon Contest Prizes

Twilight fans, please don’t hold this against me, but I’m not one of you.  I have not read the books and have no desire to do so.  I haven’t seen the first movie and have no desire to do so.  When I see the commercials for New Moon on TV, I laugh at all the slow motion fighting.  What is this, a teen romance vampire Matrix flick?

So you can all get a good laugh – my wife wants me to go see this movie with her.  And with her birthday coming up, I don’t see how I’m going to get out of it.

But don’t let my misfortune stop you from entering the Twilight New Moon contest at Toys R Us.

The ToysRUs.com Ultimate New Moon Sweepstakes! We are giving away 7 fabulous prizes, including signed memorabilia and more! One lucky winner will receive the Grand Prize of wardrobe from the movie set! Each entrant will be eligible to win 1 of 7 prizes!

Also, check out the NECA store on Amazon – Twilight is their best-selling action figure line.  I wish it were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

NECA Army of Two Figures Available for Pre-Order

I haven’t played this game, but saw the figures at San Diego Comic-Con and they looked cool.  The articulation looks a little lacking – every action-oriented video game figure ought to be super-poseable, at least in my humble opinion!

Army of Two Head into Battle

Because you can’t have just one.

EA’s upcoming sequel to the smash game Army of Two, dubbed Army of Two: The 40th Day, takes place a few years after the original. Main characters Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are mercenaries leading the company TransWorld Operations (TWO), and when a competing force starts reaking havoc in the city, it’s up to Rios and Salem to stop them the only way they know how: with huge, awesome-looking, customizable guns.

To celebrate Army of Two: The 40th Day’s upcoming January release, NECA is now taking preorders for our first Army of Two figures — Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem!

Each of these highly detailed and poseable figures is armed to the teeth with an assault rifle, a sniper rifle and a pistol. No worries if it’s too much to carry since the weapons attach to the figures’ back. Also included are the individual masks that Rios and Salem wear in the game — pivoting up and down to give them a better look at the action.

Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are available for preorder now and will also be available at our Amazon storefront.

NECA Announces Dante Figure from Dante’s Inferno Video Game

I admit that I hadn’t heard of this game prior to this announcement, but that’s nothing new.  As you may know, I am a big fan of superposeable figures, so seeing that Dante would have 30 points was very welcome.  Those red strips of cloth are a tapestry that Dante has sewn into his skin, so it’ll be interesting to see how NECA handles that – right now it looks like a mix of fabric and plastic elements.

To Hell and Back

Dante’s Inferno just got hotter

In the upcoming EA third person adventure, Dante’s Inferno, you are Dante. Death has come to steal your love Beatrice’s soul and take her to Hell — but on his way out, you grab his scythe and follow behind. As in Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy, the poet Virgil guides Dante through the circles of Hell, encountering the embodiments of the seven deadly sins along the way. In the video game, he rides on the backs of demons and slashes his way through each circle on his way to Beatrice, who is being held by Lucifer himself.

To celebrate this slab of videogameular awesomeness, NECA is proud to unveil our first Dante figure. Boasting 30 points of articulation, Dante is truly one of a kind. He carries a Cross in a sheath on his right hip, has an interchangeable right hand, and then, of course, there’s the scythe…

An imposing site in itself, Death’s scythe stands over eight inches tall! Not only that, but the blade is detachable for hand-held use. It might just be the coolest videogame weapon ever, and it’s definitely given its due with the Dante figure. The Inferno will never be the same.

Dante’s Inferno will be released February 9, 2010 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP. Our Dante figure hits stores after Xmas and will also be available at our Amazon storefront.

NECA Temple of the Serpent Conan the Barbarian

Between Conan and Terminator 2, NECA has got Ahhhnold nailed.  I love the headsculpts on all of them, but would really be psyched for a super-articulated Conan.  With very limited articulation, these figures hold just one main pose, essentially making them statues.

Conan the Exterminator

If you’ve got serpents, he’s got a giant sword.

Our new Temple of the Serpent Conan the Barbarian 7″ figure has his blade held high and ready to strike!

Honoring visionary author Robert E. Howard’s legendary Conan the Barbarian character and boasting an impeccable likeness to a certain Caleefornian governor, this new Conan comes with his sword and articulation at the neck, wrists, waist and boots. The articulation in the boots is especially handy when it comes to crushing serpent heads.

In his ongoing fight against the Serpent Men and their god Set, Conan stands poised for battle, his carefully sculpted muscles tensed and anxious for blood. The cold Schwarzenegger gaze is unmistakable, but this Temple of the Serpent Conan goes even further, putting you in the moment just before the death-blow is delivered, just when the action is at its peak. It is the ultimate recreation of the ultimate Cimmerian.

Temple of the Serpent Conan the Barbarian hits stores soon and will also available at our Amazon storefront.

Gears of War Series 5 On Sale Next Week

The Gears of War keep turning (ouch, I know, sorry!) with series 5 due next week.  NECA is getting a lot of shelf space at in the new Toys R Us collector areas, with Gears, Player Select, Terminator, Twilight, and more – so I’m guessing we will see this line continue to flourish.  I hope to see NECA continue to upgrade these figures with better articulation, like they did with the COG Soldier.

Grinding The Gears

Gears of War Series 5 takes command!

BoomerPackCogv2PackGrenBeastRiderPackColHoffmanPack

Granted, we might be biased, but our new Gears of War 2 figures are easily the coolest yet.

The latest installment based on the multi-million-selling Epic game Gears of War 2 is tougher, meaner and packing more firepower than ever before. Just check it out:

Fighting for the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) is Delta Squad Colonel Victor Hoffman. Back in the original Gears, he reinstated Marcus Fenix into the military, and in Gears 2, he’s got an even more integral role to play in the battle against the Locust Horde. Joining Hoffman is an all new version of the COG Soldier with a different helmet and new articulation. Both figures come with unique weaponry.

From the Locust Horde there’s the Beast Rider Grenadier. A new character to Gears 2, the Beast Rider attacks players from on top of his Bloodmount and is notoriously hard to kill. Speaking of, the reckless Boomer is ready to run head-first into certain doom if it means he can take you out with him. Bigger and more dangerous than the usual Locust fighters, Boomer might just be a gamer’s worst nightmare. Like Hoffman and the COG Soldier, both Beast Rider and Boomer come with individualized weapons and are completely new to this line.

Gears of War 2 Series 5 hits shelves next week, and as always, they’ll also be available online at our Amazon storefront.
