Border Patrol: Pulp Fiction Jules and Vincent, Star Wars Stormtrooper Luke Skywalker, and Transformers Soundwave

Pulp Fiction Jules and Vincent

Pulp Fiction 1/6 Scale Jules and Vincent by Rainman – I really can’t get over the head sculpts and paint job that nail the Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta likenesses – this set comes with the suits, weapons, the “dork” outfits they wore after they got brains on themselves, and even the Big Kahuna Burger drink and Jules’ Bad Mother Fucker wallet… and more! – must be seen to be believed – ends Sep 03, 2013 22:30:23 PDT

CustomCon 36 – Winter 2013

The staff at AFP is pleased to announce that we will be hosting CustomCon 36. This edition of CustomCon will be held this December, and joins the CustomCon events held in the spring (Raving Toy Maniac) and summer (JoeAcevedo.com).

Event Dates

CustomCon 36 will run the week of December 9, 2013.

Entry Deadline

The submission deadline is Friday, November 29, 2013. No entries will be accepted after this date.

What is CustomCon?

CustomCon is a special presentation of new custom toy creations by customizers around the globe. Thirteen years in the running, it’s still going strong. Inspired by the presentations of new product by legitimate manufacturers at Toy Fair and other trade shows, CustomCon is a “fake” convention, wherein customizers present their latest creations and recipes as if unveiling a new line of real toys to retailers. It’s always a lot of fun for both the viewers and the participants.

If this is your first exposure to a CustomCon, check out what’s been offered over the past 35 CustomCons, including the CustomCon entries that have been featured here at AFP.

Border Patrol: Transformers – the frenzyrumble Edition

This week, I was amazed to see three separate frenzyrumble Transformers customs up for auction, all going like gangbusters. There were two previously owned customs going back on the market, and one directly from frenzyrumble – we’ll start with that one.

Transformers Masterpiece Soundwave by frenzyrumble – folks have started finding the new Masterpiece Soundwave at retail, but only one of you will have this customized version, with Soundwave and all five minions receiving detailed paint jobs – Soundwave also gets a red LED to light up his visor – ends Aug 29, 2013 09:28:27 PDT

Border Patrol: Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon, Marvel Legends Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman, and DC Infinite Heroes Deathstroke

Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon 1 Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon 2 Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon 3

Pacific Rim Battle Damaged Crimson Typhoon by sabretooths_workshop – I love the battle-damaged paint job, but what really takes the cake are the motorized spinning blades and the light up eye, complete with separate switches and replaceable batteries – ends Aug 25, 2013 19:36:37 PDT

How To: Swap Hands Easily on the Masters of the Universe Classics He-Man

He-Man New Adventures He-Man Hand Swap 1

Once this was pointed out to me I just couldn’t unsee it – a regular Masters of the Universe Classics He-Man can’t hold his sword straight up in his iconic pose when HE HAS THE POWER! He can get pretty close, but since he just has an ordinary swivel wrist, he’s perpetually stuck holding the Power Sword nearly perpendicular to his forearm.

The latest He-Man variant, New Adventures He-Man doesn’t have that problem. In addition to the wrist swivel, he also has a hinge in each wrist. On his right wrist, the hinge allows him to move his hand back and forth, like a conductor tapping his baton against his lectern, or a politician gesturing emphatically that he did not have sexual relations with that woman. In other words, that means that NA He-Man can point his sword straight up.

If you’re like me, you’d rather the real regular He-Man be able to do the pose (did Mattel call it Grayskulling?) – in this post, I’ll show you how I gave He-Man the New Adventures He-Man hands. And don’t worry – even if you’ve never customized before, you can do it too – there’s almost no way you can screw it up.
