AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 6/14/10

Toy Guru was a day early with the mid-month edition of Ask Matty… or are we going to be a day late submitting questions for the next one? Thanks to him and Mattel for this round of Q&A.

1) How are the DC Universe Classics All-Star repaints like Batman and Green Lantern doing at retail? At least at the TRUs where I shop, they don’t stick around long. What are the plans to continue this past the fourth figure, and when will that fourth figure be revealed?

The TRU repaints are doing great. The fourth figure will be revealed at SDCC. We can’t confirm anything beyond that right now but hope to have news soon.

2) You’ve said that 2011’s Masters of the Universe Classics Club Eternia subscription will include a map like this year’s map of Eternia. We’re guessing that it will be a map of Etheria, and that the exclusive figure will be a popular character that is part of the She-Ra Princess of Power show. Are we warm? Any hints? Will we find out for sure at San Diego Comic-Con?

We will include a new map and a new subscription-only figure. The map is still under wraps, the subscription figure will be from the mini comics! More to come at SDCC!

3) Toy Story 3 is opening in a couple of days. Is the SDCC exclusive Lotso part of the Disney / Pixar Collection? Is there an official scale for those figures, such that Woody is taller than Buzz, for example? Are there any plans to make these or other Toy Story 3 toys, other than Lotso, available on MattyCollector.com?

You will see many, many Toy Story 3 collector-scale figures. Lotso is just special for SDCC, the others will be available at Toys “R” Us stores! Yes, we do try to keep collector figures in scale to each other at the 3 ¾-inch size.

4) We were glad to see the final figures from the Dark Knight Movie Masters line hit retail shelves, and realize that you probably would have liked to see them be available sooner. What lessons from this line do you think you can apply to future lines like those for the Green Lantern movie or the next Dark Knight sequel?

We are definitely looking at key learnings from the Dark Knight Movie Masters as we move forward with new DC live action films. You will see quite a lot of great collector product in several scales for the Green Lantern film. Remember! Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich is running this line!

5) You’ve said you’ll have some Ghostbuster reveals at San Diego. Not counting pack-ins like the various ghosts, will there be any characters outside of the main four Ghostbusters? Any hints?

It is still up in the air how many figures we will have for SDCC. We may not have all the figures complete, but we hope to have at least one non-“Buster” figure to show off even if he/she isn’t fully sculpted yet. We may only have a head to show off!

Here’s the other Ask Mattel Q&As from around the web (to be updated as they surface):

  1. Future Movie Masters figures need to be in scale with DC Universe Classics. There’s no excuse for the Movie Masters Batman being so short compared to the DCUC line.

  2. totally agree – I would have bought a lot more of the figures from the Dark Knight movie masters line if they had stacked up well against DCUC.
