San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – Hasbro Marvel Legends

San Diego Comic-Con is just getting started with Preview Night, but I thought you might appreciate an update about the Hasbro Marvel Legends 2-Packs. The Marvel brand team from Hasbro were typically coy about anything past the current line-up of 2-packs. Here’s what we did learn:

  • Pairings remain the same: Black Widow and Winter Soldier, Deadpool and Warpath, and Valkyrie and Hulk
  • There will be variant 2-packs for Black Widow (gray suit and short hair) / Winter Soldier (long hair) and Deadpool (X-Men redeco) / Warpath (Uncanny X-Men redeco)
  • These are due on shelves in October and will be exclusive to Toys R Us.

Yes, we did get our hands on these production samples – and if you thought the last set of 2-packs were moving in the right direction, I think you’ll be even more pleased with these. The sculpts are there. The paints are improving. And the articulation is in the sweet spot for ML fans. yes, there’s reuse here, but it’s sensible and you probably won’t notice it if you aren’t explicitly looking for it.

Given the timing, I’m guessing that these will be the only ML product on shelves in 2010. Given how they turned out, I am hoping that fans gobble these up and Hasbro starts up the 6-inch lines in full force for 2011.

We’ll find out more at the Hasbro Marvel panel on Saturday. Stay tuned!

  2. Awesome news, thanks for the sweet pics from the con! I’ll be hunting these down for sure.

  3. Yawn. I’ve seen these for … well over a year now on the internet? They are great. I will buy them. I’m mad that I will have another useless Hulk. I’m more looking forward to having a bigger Galactus and an ice giant to stand with my Legends. I really don’t care anymore if they make any more Legends. They beat me down and won. I give my money to Mattel now. Legion 12 pack baby!!!

  4. the last couple rounds of 2-packs have been really good. if the 2012 Legends keep that trend going, then I’ll have no problems jumping back on board for Marvel Legends.

  5. it’s probably too early to know since the ML relaunch is in 2012. I think the earliest we might hear something is at UK Toy Fair, January 25 – 27, 2011.

  6. oh, i thought that they were coming out this year? im confused :s kinda makes sense as i cant find anywhere to pre order

  7. oops, I got confused. the 2-packs are definitely coming out this year, in the October timeframe. I don’t know if they are going to be available in the UK though.

the whole brand gets a relaunch in 2012 though.

    sorry for the mix-up!

  8. cheers dude, would i be able to order online somewhere for them or is it instore only thing because if so that sucks!

  9. I have all the marvel legends/select figures and then some. I’d be eager to buy improved sculpts of the characters I have but I obviously want figures of new and relevant charcaters from the marvel universe comics now on the stand. But for years Hasbro has been teasing me that “oh next year will be great.” I’ll belive it when I see it. Honestly, I have a wall of these things, I can wait.
