MattyCollector 2013 Subscriptions Re-Opened for the Rest of April

MattyCollector 2013 Subscriptions

If you somehow missed the months and months the 2013 Mattel subscriptions were available last year and were hoping to jump on board, now’s your chance. Mattel has opened up those subs for the rest of this month, and you’ll get all the remaining figures for the year for each, from May onwards. I know there’s people who were swayed by the unending hysteria during the sales period that the subscriptions were at risk, and bought into multiple subs – I imagine some of these folks would rather jump off instead.

But hey, no Club exclusives for Masters of the Universe Classics and DC Universe Classics, but there’s a lot more of the selections revealed, and less funds committed. And this is another chance to pick up the Club Filmation half-year sub, which did have a relatively short subscription period, compared to the rest. Mattel talks about a limited amount of subs available – I’ll be curious to see if they do sell out of any. Here are the links to all the MattyCollector subscriptions.

DC Universe Classics Larfleeze and Masters of the Universe Classics Snake Face Headline the MattyCollector 4/15 Sale

Early Access for this Matty Tax Day sale has come and gone, and to show how little I know, it was the Masters of the Universe Classics Webstor and only Webstor who sold out of his remaining customer service stock during the subscribers’ free for all. That leaves Mosquitor and the Snake Men 2-pack to join Snake Face and the DC Universe Classics Larfleeze for the sale that just opened up. The WWE Christian was a no-show for Early Access – to make sure I wasn’t going crazy I checked, and the online announcement of the 4/15 sale made no mention of Early Access for him, but the email reminder that I got did.

In case you can’t spell MattyCollector, here’s the link to the MattyCollector 4/15 bundle page. Happy shopping!

Captain Picard is the Next Star Trek Select Figure, Beaming Down This Fall

Star Trek Select Jean Luc Picard 2

He’ll be on specialty retailer shelves this fall and available for pre-order from your LCBS next week.

No word yet on whether he will feature interchangeable parts like Spock and Kirk do, but he does come with a detailed base featuring a downed Borg. You will be assimilated.

Sideshow Collectibles Previews Life-Sized Iron Man

Speaking of life-sized Iron Men that I can’t afford, Sideshow Collectibles is coming out with a 1:1 scale figure (read: statue) of the Mark 42 armor. The Sideshow life-sized Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton is priced at $5,999.99, so I’m expecting something in that neighborhood for Iron Man. Might not be quite that expensive, since it might be a little easier to produce.

Diamond Select Toys Shares New Pics of Iron Man 3 Marvel Select Figures

Remember when Marvel Select figures were almost like statues, with a few swivel cuts here and there? DST may be limited to 16 points of articulation on Select figures, but with the new style joints, they’ve got ridiculously good movement these days. The Mark 42 and War Machine figures are great examples, as illustrated by the new pics that DST has shared. I’m looking forward to seeing their Iron Patriot, and I wonder if the second exclusive they’ve teased will have a more feminine appeal.

Iron Man 3 is less than one month away, and Diamond Select Toys is hard at work on their Marvel Select action figures for the movie!
