Help Create a New Transformers Character – Hasbro’s Fan Built Bot

Opening Globally Today, the “Fan Built Bot” Poll Kicks-Off Celebration of the Iconic Brand’s 30^th Anniversary by Allowing Fans to Create New Transformers Character

Pawtucket, R.I. (April 18, 2013) — For the first time in history, the Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) TRANSFORMERS brand is inviting fans of all ages around the globe to help create a new TRANSFORMERS character that will be forever added to the TRANSFORMERS world. In anticipation of the TRANSFORMERS’ brand 30^th anniversary in 2014, the “Fan Built Bot” Poll kicks off today, and will run through May 5^th on TRANSFORMERS.com/vote. Hasbro invites fans to vote daily to shape this new TRANSFORMERS character. The new character will be made into an action figure featured in the “Thrilling 30” line of toys to celebrate the anniversary.

Hasbro is giving kids and fans the opportunity to make the “Fan Built Bot” character with votes determining everything from being an AUTOBOT or DECEPTICON—to its vehicle or other mode, color, personality and more. Kids and fans are encouraged to vote daily! Also, to keep with the theme of the fans being the ones who really shape and create this new TRANSFORMERS character, Hasbro will also give fans a say in the naming of the new character. More details on the naming will be announced soon.

“Since 1984, the TRANSFORMERS brand has been bringing entertainment and excitement to kids and fans with our beloved characters like BUMBLEBEE and OPTIMUS PRIME. We invite all fans to help us kick off the 30^th anniversary of TRANSFORMERS with a new character of their choice — for the first time in history,” said Jay Duke, vice president of the TRANSFORMERS brand at Hasbro. “This is the perfect way to kick off our anniversary celebration and the ‘Thrilling 30’ line of special edition figures. It will be tremendous fun for everyone to keep track of the entire process from the designing of the character; leading up to its introduction as a toy and watching it become a part of the TRANSFORMERS brand.”

The results of the poll will be announced by Hasbro at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, as part of the official kick-off to Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS “Thrilling 30” anniversary celebration. Kids and fans will be able to purchase the “Fan Built Bot” character as a toy and will see the new character appear in official TRANSFORMERS comic books.

Mezco Announces Blind-Boxed DC Universe Mez-Itz

I find blind-boxed collectibles frustrating – luckily, they tend to crop up more in the little vinyl figures that my wife collects, but I’ve caught the blind box bug once or twice. The two-inch Mez-Itz fit the bill for the blind-boxed approach – they’re super-cute and small enough to fit in those little boxes, but it probably means that these DC Mez-Itz will find a home at online and specialty retailers, whereas the previous DC assortments had made it to Toys R Us.

Any ideas on the chase? I’ll make my guess here – even though it’ll hit shelves a couple months after the movie hits theaters, I think it’s Superman in his Man of Steel costume. You heard it here first!

Mezco Announces Mez-itz DC Universe 2 inch Blind Box Assortment

New York- Mezco’s ever expanding exploration into the DC Universe continues with the exciting edition of mystery Blind Box Figures. Each PDQ contains six characters from the DC Universe with 10 unique designs; each Mez-itz has a specific rarity scale with a super rare chase figure.

The first assortment includes:

Aquaman

Batman

Green Lantern

Superman

Wonder Woman

Harley Quinn

Each master carton contains three display boxes with 24 figurines in each. There is at least one full set within every case – including the hard to find super secret chase figure.

“I’ve been enjoying DC Comics since I learned to read” said Richard Ford, a member of Mezco’s award winning design team, “To be able to work on this series and transform characters from the DC Universe into Mez-Itz is the next best thing to having super powers”.

These figures are individually blind-boxed, which means you’ll be totally surprised by what you get! Blind-boxed figures come in sealed foil bags, without any clue as to which of the series is inside. The surprise stays secret until you open the box.

Hot Toys Announces Three More Iron Man 3 Armors

After watching the second Iron Man 3 trailer, the one with all those Iron Men, the first thing that crossed my mind (after “AWESOME!” of course) was “Hot Toys is going to have a field day with this!”

Today they announced three new armors from the movie, one for each of their 1/6 scale figure lines. For their premium Diecast line, it’s the Mark XVII Heartbreaker, the artillery level RT suit – this is the third Diecast product they’ve announced, joining the Mark XLII and the Iron Patriot. For Movie Masterpiece, it’s the Mark XXXVIII Igor, the heavy lifting suit – this one is reminiscent of the Hulkbuster armor from the comics, despite its blue coloring. And for the Power Pose line, it’s the Mark XXXV Redsnapper Armor, the disaster rescue suit – it’s joining the Mark XLII in the statue category.

And they’re promising even more armors to come. My wallet is going to need a break, or at least a cash infusion from Tony Stark.

ThreeA Toys WWRp Bromwich Bertie Mk 3.5 Up for Pre-Order Now

The pre-order window for the 3A Toys Real Steel Atom has been closed – if you missed out, you’ll still be able to pick him up when the retail version is released, but he won’t come with the in scale remote control that is exclusive to the Bambaland version. In Atom’s place, 3A has put up this dual pistol wielding Bertie, in the Bromwich colorway. Now, I’m a sucker for dual pistols, but I’ve got to draw the line at one pink killer robot a month – and I pre-ordered the “Hellboy” bot (the battle-damaged Pinky) just under 2 weeks ago.

But for those of you looking for a weathered but not damaged WWRp Bertie Mk 3.5, the Bromwich here is the first to be offered. And it looks like they’ll be spreading these guys out like they’re doing with the WWRp Grunts, instead of bundling them together in a 12-pack (or whatever number of colorways they’ll eventually get to.)
