Battle Beasts Retailer Incentive – Stealth Vorin

Retailers who ordered 25 copies of the first issue of Battle Beasts from IDW Publishing got this Minimates Stealth Vorin. Battle Beasts is an ambitious undertaking, with Diamond Select Toys and IDW launching the toys and the comic book meant to promote them at the same time. Talyn had reservations about trading on the vintage toy line Battle Beast’s name – regardless of the name, I hope the toy plus comic book approach sees success, as I’d like to see more opportunities for smaller toy companies to succeed with original, non-licensed brands.

You can get more Battle Beasts pics and info – like the Battle Beasts Facebook page.

Hot Toys Reveals The Dark Knight Rises Batman and Teases Bane

Hot Toys knows how to keep me on the hook. With just a couple of weeks to go, they’ve finally revealed their Batman for The Dark Knight Rises, and in the same stroke teased us with Bane on top of a desert camo Tumbler.

Certainly we’ll see Bane before the movie opens – I’m wondering if we’ll get to see him in person at Sideshow’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con next week. I hope so!

Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fall Lineup with Press Pics

Unless you’ve been living in a sewer (groan, I know), you have probably heard that Nickelodeon is launching a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle animated series this Fall. In conjunction with the show, Playmates is launching an all-new line of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys. They’ve sent us pics of their full product line of figures and vehicles, including the totally impressive Turtle Lair playset. We should see figures on shelves at all major retailers (Toys R Us, Target, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart) as well as select specialty retailers, beginning mid-August. And several mass and specialty on-line retailers will begin taking pre-orders as early as next Tuesday, July 10th.

We’ll start with the Classic line, as that is near and dear to our hearts. All text and images to follow are from Playmates except as noted.

Classic Collection Action Figures

The Classic Collection Action Figures reflect the look of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the 80’s TV show. Each Turtle stands 6 inches tall, features more than 30 points of articulation and is authentically detailed to appeal to the true action figure collector. Each Turtle will come with its core Ninja weapons and a personalized sewer lid cover name base. The Classic Collection Action Figures collection includes Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. (Ages 4+, $14.99 each, August 2012)

[Editor’s note – check out Veebee’s First Look  – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Donatello for a more in-depth look at the Classics Donatello.]

Hasbro Goes Where No Man Has Gone Before – Announces Star Trek KRE-O Line

When we were kids, my brother and I were big into science fiction – first the original Star Trek, and later on, Star Wars. We also had a lot of Lego town and space sets, that would often be repurposed to try to recreate the iconic spaceships from Trek and Wars. So, as an adult, when Lego introduced Star Wars Legos, I got into them too.

Now, Hasbro has hit on another sweet spot, extending their KRE-O building blocks with the Star Trek license. Kirk, Spock, and more in KREON figure format? I will definitely be checking these out at San Diego Comic-Con.

SDCC 2012: Thundercats Minimates Box Set Pics from Diamond Select Toys

I really like what DST is doing with their promo pics these days – looks like they’re having fun actually playing with their figures!

Looks like Snarf is a slug rather than an actual Minimate. That’s better than what I expected, as I thought perhaps he’d be the same size as the other TCats.

Coming from Icon Heroes, available at Action Figure Xpress Booth 3345!
