SDCC 2017: Hasbro Marvel Interview with Ryan Ting and Dwight Stall

I caught up with Ryan Ting, Global Brand Manager, and Dwight Stall, Senior Design Manager, from the Hasbro Marvel Brand Team at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday afternoon. We chatted about the Marvel Legends exclusives available at SDCC 2017 (and following the show at HasbroToyShop.com), as well as the incoming Legends waves due this fall and early 2018 (including the Netflix / Man-Thing wave, Thor: Ragnarok, the vintage Marvel Superheroes throwback wave, a whole new Deadpool wave, and the “Riders” assortment).

I also pitched my idea for a Bob, Agent of Hydra, figure with MODOK’s Doomsday chair for the Riders wave. Tell me that’s not a winner!

Spider-Man: A Friend in Need! – Bill’s Comics

The Amazing Spider-Man – A Friend in Need!

After taking on the Beetle in our last issue, Spidey is Back In Black as he faces the double threat of Tombstone and The Vulture in his latest action-packed adventure.

It’s double the action and twice the thrills as everyone’s favorite wall crawler races to save his friends Joe and Randy Robertson from the clutches of Tombstone and The Vulture. Don’t dare miss it, true believers!

Be sure to check out the rest of Bill’s work here at AFP and at Bill’s Comics. And thanks to Extreme-Sets for providing review samples of the Building and Abandoned House┬ádiorama sets.

Lions and Rabbit and Lizard, Oh My! – Playmates Reveals Voltron and TMNT Exclusives for SDCC

Playmates has revealed San Diego Comic-Con exclusives for two of its fan-favorite franchises. First, a diecast set of lions that form an 8-inch Voltron from Dreamworks’ acclaimed Voltron: Legendary Defender. You can get the lions individually, but we all know you will get all five. No word on price yet, but to give you an idea, ToysRUs has a 16-inch Voltron set available now for $99.99 – but in this set the lions are plastic, not diecast.

They will also have an exclusive version of Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo, perhaps best known for his cross-over with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and animated series. For $30 and limited to only 350 to be sold at SDCC, the rabbit ronin will come with 3 interchangeable heads, 2 comics, and even his pet lizard, Spot. As Spot would say, EEP!
