NYCC 2015: High-End Statues from Pop Culture Shock Collectibles and ARH Studios

NYCC 2015 - Pop Culture Shock Collectibles and ARH Studios

Pop Culture Shock and ARH Studios were right next to each other on the convention floor – both make high-end statues that I’d love to have, if I had the space and the budget to collect them. Pop Culture Shock has licenses for Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Masters of the Universe, Robocop, and even DC – although I didn’t get a good shot of their Batman statue.

ARH makes statues for its own Arhian character and other fantasy properties, like Queen of the Vampires and Frazetta. Their Frazetta “Barbarian” might as well be Conan. They also had a 1/6 scale figure of Arhian built using a Phicen action figure.

I Pity the Fool… that Skips Kasual Friday’s Comic Book and Big Screen Superstars

I’m overdue on posting this look at Kasual Friday’s Big Screen and Comic Book Superstars. Our long-time pal Scott George sent them to us right before the holidays. Scott launched KasFri a few years ago, after a successful run at Hasbro overseeing Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe. With his experience with licensed properties and toys, Scott picked up licenses for mini-figures and apparel for some of the mainstay pop culture brands – wave 2 and 2.5 of Superstars covers Rocky, Robocop, the Phantom, and Evil Dead.

Kasual Friday Big Screen and Comic Book Superstars Preview

It’s been raining in California for days, but I can’t complain – it’s the start of the weekend and I’m opening toys. Today’s booty – a bunch of Big Screen and Comic Book Superstars from Kasual Friday. In the mix are the figures from Rocky II, III, and IV, and Ash from Army of Darkness, Robocop, and the Phantom. Our longtime pal Scott George, one of the founders of Kasual Friday, sent these over from the East Coast (where the weather hasn’t been much better). Thanks, Scott!

Now, it will take me some time to get take proper pics, but this being Friday and the toys being from Kasual Friday, I felt compelled to put something up today. And, when I do have better pics, we’ll also do a Free Stuff giveaway of the Italian Stallion and Clubber Lang. One lucky winner will get the pair with Rocky in his yellow trunks, because we all know it’s more fun when Clubber wins. And yes, I know – Clubber wears the blue trunks in that fight, but as Wesley Snipes says, always bet on black. (Translation: we only have Clubber in his black trunks.)

So stay tuned for the pics and giveaway, and have a great weekend!

Weekend Toy Run: Robocop Daily Deal at Entertainment Earth

If you’re trying to recover from Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the ongoing Cyber Week, then Entertainment Earth isn’t making it easy. They’ve got a limitless supply of daily deals, and today’s Entertainment Earth Daily Deal is for Robocop, classic and… well, not so classic. EE has two Play Arts Kai figures by Square Enix. They’ve got the classic Robocop, and while the remake may not have captured the same magic as the original, the new Robocop suit makes for a cool figure. I’ve not been buying as many Play Arts Kai figures this year, since the prices have kept going up – but at 40% off today, I’d buy that for a dollar fifty-four dollars!

They’ve also got the Superstars Robocop mini-figure from Kasual Friday at 62% off, for $5. ED-209 wants you to buy them all – you have 15 seconds to comply.

Kasual Friday Superstars - wave 2

Our good friend Scott George from Kasual Friday sent us pics of waves 2 and 2.5 of their Big Screen Superstars line of figures. For those of you who’ve been collecting for a few years, Scott previously was on the Marvel team at Hasbro, and was one of the driving forces behind the Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends lines.

Just around three years ago, Scott was one of the founders of Kasual Friday. Since then they’ve picked up a number of pop culture licenses for both figures and clothing; they can be found at your local comic book store as well as through online retailers like Entertainment Earth and BigBadToyStore. These newest waves of Superstars focus on Robocop and Rocky. How can you not love that Clubber Lang figure from wave 2.5? My prediction? Pain.
