NECA Lone Ranger 7-Inch Series 2 Set on Sale at Entertainment Earth – Today Only

I am amazed that Entertainment Earth continues to have daily deals. Today’s is for a set of two figures from NECA’s Lone Ranger series for %25.20 (that’s 30%off) – and of course those two figures are of Tonto and the Lone Ranger. The second wave features a bird cage accessory for Tonto, and an unmasked head sculpt for the Lone Ranger.

What’s more amazing is that the pairing of Gore Verbinki and Johnny Depp produced such a dud. I suppose their collaboration on Pirates of the Caribbean declined throughout the series, but they had returned to form with Rango. But I guess when you make a Tonto movie and call it the Lone Ranger, it’s bound to disappoint a few people.

Doh! – The Simpsons Joining the LEGO Family Next Month

Simspons LEGO Minifigures

Back when LEGO first acquired the Star Wars license, I worried that they were killing their business by delving into expensive licensed properties. Now, years later, their licensing program continues to flourish with the most dominant licenses – and it’s about to add another big brand to the fold.

Coming in February, LEGO launches the Simpsons brand with the Simpsons House, comprised of over 2.5K bricks, including 6 mini-figures – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Flanders – wow! At about $200, the set is not cheap, but considering people have been cobbling together Simpsons LEGOs for years, I think it could be another big win for LEGO.

Win a Marvel Select Jane Foster and Thor Prototype from Diamond Select Toys

Gotta love the easy to enter contests from Diamond Select Toys, especially when it’s a cool prize like the Marvel Select Jane Foster and a Thor prototype from Thor: the Dark World. Remember, you’ve got to like the picture on Facebook (you can always share or like this article too – we don’t mind!) and email your address to DST.

I do like that the height difference between Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are represented in the figures – although the proper comparison might be seen on this Graham Norton clip with the two Thor stars and their action figures. 😉

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Superior Venom, DC Universe Classics Kyle Rayner and Red Hood

In our first installment of Border Patrol for 2014, we’ve got a Marvel variant that could definitely be made and two DC variants that should have been made.

  • Marvel Legends Superior Venom by glennwebman69 – if Hasbro could make a Marvel Legernds Superior Spider-Man (currently hitting shelves), then they should start thinking about making Superior Venom – after all, it’s the best thing to happen to our favorite symbiote in the comics, just like Superior Spider-Man was the best thing to happen to our favorite web-slinger – ends Jan 16, 2014 16:19:02 PST
  • DC Universe Classics Green Lantern Kyle Rayner by FUMan Studio – back when DC Universe Classics was going strong, Mattel released a Kyle Rayner figure that was pretty ok – it just wasn’t the iconic Rayner from when he was part of Grant Morrison’s JLA – this is a big hole in the line-up, especially since Mattel is releasing a hook-handed Aquaman in its last gasp of DCUC this year – ends Jan 11, 2014 06:00:43 PST
  • DC Universe Classics Red Hood Jason Todd by Mint Condition Customs – don’t get me wrong – I like Grant Morrison, but that doesn’t mean that every action figure made should be from his books – case in point, the Red Hood Mattel released in the Club Infinite Earths subscription was the one featured for just a couple of issues during Morrison’s recent Batman and Robin run – but pretty much everyone I know would have been happier with this version – ends Jan 12, 2014 19:11:12 PST

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!
