Border Patrol: 1/6 Scale Breaking Bad Walter White and Jesse Pinkman Lab Set

There’s one auction for custom action figures that I want to focus on this week. It’s for a set of figures from the latest show I was powerless to stop myself from binge watching – Breaking Bad.

1/6 Scale Breaking Bad Lab Set with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman by Leftover Zombies – the two figures may not have the best likenesses for Walt and Jesse that I’ve seen, but that’s not discouraging fans of the show from bidding – one thing that distinguishes this set is that it comes with a lab table, assorted flasks and beakers, and a tub of the blue meth – this really begs the question… why hasn’t some toy company picked up the Breaking Bad license for 1/6 figures?

Popbot Lasstranaut Headlines ThreeA Toys’ 3AA 2014 Membership Package

It’s that time of year again – 3A Toys is opening up its 3AA membership for the year. 3AA affords its members with a 15% discount on all 3A purchases, including those at conventions and shows. The membership also gives access to exclusive 3AA colorways for major releases, special KLUB-only releases (kind of like mini-subs with a bonus for buying each item in it), as well as a guaranteed order window for these exclusives.

The 3AA membership also includes a gorgeous package packed with artwork and loot from Ashley Wood – including the exclusive Lasstranaut from Wood’s Popbot universe. Lasstranaut is an extremely popular character for 3A enthusiasts, so I expect a good turnout from the Legionnaires – but those of you with more mainstream tastes will wonder why this female astronaut isn’t wearing pants. I have no idea on that, but understand that 3A is producing the figure with a new articulation setup that you can see on those legs – it’s an outer “skin” over an articulated armature.

The 3AA package is $200 , or $170 if you’re a current member. The sale starts on today at 8PM EST at Bambaland and will be available for 24 hours.

No Shipping Options on Digital River Bugs Mattycollector January Early Access

Even if you wanted to spend about $50 to pick up a Masters of the Universe Classics Ram Man during Mattycollector’s January Early Access, you were head-butted out of the buying process. A bug in the Digital River shopping cart kept Club Eternia subscribers from completing their purchases this morning – no shipping options were presented in the drop-down menu, and any attempts to continue would result in an endless loop on the page.

I was looking to pick one up for a Free Stuff giveaway and made a couple attempts thinking that I couldn’t read the highly unintelligible Captcha codes. Very frustrating! Just chalk it up as another snafu in Digital River’s service record during their Mattycollector tenure.

No Masters of the Universe Classics Two Bad, But Ram Man Returns for Mattycollector January Sale

I’ve been critical in the past that Mattel’s Early Access for Mattycollector subscribers provided little value. However, I can’t really say that about their first sale for 2014 – the remaining Ram Man stock goes up for grabs first in Early Access, and I’m guessing he’ll be gone in a few minutes – way before everyone else gets a shot the following day. Add the fact that the Club Eternia offering, the very popular Two Bad, does not have any inventory available for day of sales, and subscribers to Mattycollector’s last remaining club should be starting off the year happy. Whether this is good for the line overall – I’m curious what you guys think.

The DC Universe Classics Captain Marvel Jr. (aka Freddy Freeman), MOTUC Dekker, and the Ghostbusters Ecto Goggles will also be on sale. Here’s the link to Early Access for January, which opens tomorrow at 8AM PST. All access opens up Wednesday at 9AM PST. Let’s hope this sale does better for Mattel than their December sale – last I checked, none of the items had sold out or even been tagged with the warning of low stock. I was able to add 99 Castle Grayskulls (the order limit) to my cart – $29,700 plus $2,499 for shipping (and don’t forget sales tax!) and they can be yours!

Weekend Toy Run: Hasbro Marvel Legends Thunderbolts Set – My eBay Auction

It might be a bit early for Spring Cleaning, but I suppose you can file this under New Year’s Resolutions. My wife has been on me about the growing pile of action figures that has me fearing that a camera crew from Hoarders will show up. So expect some Free Stuff giveaways and eBay auctions to help put a dent in the plastic hazard in our home office.

Up right now on eBay is a set of the exclusive Marvel Legends Thunderbolts from SDCC last year. I picked up extras for fellow collectors but this one never found a home. You guys play with your action figures, right? This set will be complete but will ship loose – that should save you a few bucks over the auctions that include the packaging.
