What Do You Think About Mattel’s New Flight Stands?

Mattel has posted some more details about their upcoming Flying Stands 2.0, which will be available during MattyCollector’s June sale. Like their original flight stands, they’ll come with 3 different sizes of clips, to accommodate Masters of the Universe Classics, DC Universe Classics, Ghostbusters, and more.

The new flight stands have a couple of upgrades – in addition to a hinge in the arm (akin to what was there in the first version), the clip itself will swivel, and the arm can be telescoped to allow for different heights. There will also be peg holes where you can attach the clips that aren’t in use. While it may seem ungainly, I know with the original flight stands, the extra clips are in some drawer somewhere and will probably never resurface.

One other difference – the new price is $15, compared to $12 for the old ones. Not clear at this point is how many stands will come with a single order. It used to be three. That will make a big difference with the value of the new stands. What are your thoughts?

NECA Reveals 7-Inch Scaled ED-209 from RoboCop

NECA RoboCop ED-209As much as you want to comply, maybe the Hot Toys ED-209 and RoboCop figures would put too much of a hit on your wallet. If so, NECA has the answer. To accompany NECA’s line of 7-inch RoboCop figures, they’ve just shown off their upcoming ED-209, due on shelves in September.

The Enforcement Droid will be nearly 10 inches tall to be in scale with RoboCop, and will have articulation in the head, arms, and legs. You’ll also be able to open panels on ED-209’s arms and pop out a rocket launcher on his right arm. If that’s not enough, ED-209 will also feature a sound chip with hydraulic sounds and quotes from the movie. “You have fifteen seconds to comply.”

Retailers will have once chance to order – NECA intends to have only one single production run, and after that this beast is retired.

Marvel Legends Headlines Hasbro’s 2013 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives Reveals – USAToday.com

Hasbro SDCC 2013 Exclusives

Hasbro has revealed a bunch more exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con through USAToday.com. The announcement covers exclusives for the major boys’ toys brands, including Marvel and the third (and final) G.I. JOE / Transformers crossover. And keeping with recent years, Hasbro has acknowledged that SDCC isn’t just for boys anymore, with exclusives from My Little Pony and Jem. Both had exclusives at San Diego in 2012, too.

These join the Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett with Han Solo in carbonite exclusive. While I can’t wait to get my hands on these, I can already picture the long lines at the Con.

Star Trek Into Toys R Us – Star Trek Select Exclusives to Join Minimates On TRU Shelves

StarTrekTRU1

Great news for Star Trek fans and Diamond Select Toys – Star Trek Select will be back on big box retailer shelves soon. Toys R Us has picked up the relaunch of Star Trek action figures, and will have exclusive versions of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock to start.

These versions will ship with rocky terrain bases that fit together, but will have fewer other accessories than the Star Trek Select figures that will ship to specialty and comic book stores. For example, it doesn’t look like the grimacing Spock head, alternate hands, or the crouching or jumping legs will be included. No matter – it will still be great to see more Trek on retail shelves.
