CybCon 2010 – Transformers Event in Tacoma, Washington

Canonball writes in about the Cybertronian Conference, a regional Transformers event held each year in Tacoma, Washington. All photos provided courtesy of TFcollector1984. You can read more from Canonball at Canonball’s Run. Thanks, guys!

A whole lot of Transformers for sale

I’ve been to a lot of conventions in my day, but I’ve never been to one devoted to a single, specific pocket of fandom before. The Cybertronain Conference (or CybCon, as it’s known) is a convention devoted to the love of Transformers and all things Cybertronian that takes place in Tacoma, WA every August. It’s very much a DIY affair organized by Greg Gaub to give those Pacific Northwesterners who aren’t able to make the trek to larger events like BotCon or San Diego Comic-Con a place to meet, chat, buy, sell, and bond over anything and everything involving Transformers, and I have to say – it was pretty cool.

DC Universe Classics Wave 14 and Green Lantern 5-Pack First Looks – TheFwoosh.com

In case you missed them this week, VeeBee posted a series of First Looks at the Fwoosh for four of the figures from DC Universe Classics Wave 14 and the Wal-Mart exclusive Green Lantern’s Light 5-pack. I’ll post a few of the pics here, but you really should check out those First Looks. Let’s start off with the original boy who lived.

Kamandi

So, I am on cloud nine about FINALLY having this figure, and I know I have not been waiting as long as some who read the original issues as they were published. So, if you actually don’t like Kamandi – neener-neener! We have a Kamandi figure!!! If you don’t know about him – do some reading! And if you still aren’t convinced, you have to get him to build your Humanite.

Masters of the Universe Classics Whiplash Quick Pic

MattK doesn’t know it, but he’s slowly but surely pushing me out of the picture taking business. It’s bad enough that he lives in Southern California, so he gets his subscription from MattyCollector.com a day before I do. But then he had to start making custom dioramas.

First he made a ruined castle dio – I bet even the most diehard MOTU purists felt a twinge of regret after seeing 200X’s Count Marzo in Matt’s review. Then, to make it worse, he fashioned a rocky cliff face that he used for his review of Whiplash.

Masters of the Universe Classics Whiplash

That brings us to this lonely picture I took of Whiplash yesterday. Seeing as how I’ll be doing a sort of “face off” review with VeeBee (who for some inexplicable reason digs the vintage head over the bad-ass modern head), I wanted to take a bunch of pics of Whiplash, who is now my top Masters of the Universe Classics figure. (That title had been going back and forth between Man-At-Arms, Tri-Klops, and Trap-Jaw for some time.)

DC Universe Classics Wave 16 with the Collect and Connect Bane is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Buzzy pointed out that most places don’t allow you to specify which version of Robin you want Amazon didn’t allow you to specify the variant for previous waves, like with Starman in Wave 15 (fixed per Buzzy’s comment).

They’re all listed with a ship dates of January 1st or January 5th. At $14.99 each with Amazon’s free shipping over $25 deal, seems like a good time for me to put in a pre-order.
