Weekend Toy Run: The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart Exclusively at LEGO Shop

LEGO VIP members will have exclusive access to the new LEGO Kwik-E-Mart set until the end of April. While I don’t think it’s quite as inspired as the inaugural set, the LEGO Simpsons House, it’s still a highly visited location on the show. And of course, there’s the mini-figures – you’ll get Homer, Bart, and Marge again (if you have the Simpsons House), but then there’s Chief Wiggum, Snake, and Apu. Apu!

Now, if I were the LEGO brand manager for Simpsons, I’d make Springfield Elementary next. Who wouldn’t want minifigures of Groundskeeper Willie, Principal Skinner, Edna Krabappel, and Otto the bus driver – not to mention the students. Nelson Muntz? Haa haa!

It’s No Laughing Matter – Win the Arkham Asylum Joker from Sideshow

The Clown Prince of Crime kicks off a new Premium Format Figure line from Sideshow Collectibles

If you’re a fan of the Batman: Arkham Asylum series of video games, Sideshow is holding a giveaway you’d be crazy to pass up. They are launching a new line of Premium Format Figures for the game, and the Joker is the first of them to be revealed. Standing at over 2 feet tall, his appearance is styled after the designs of the game – before he self-medicated with the Titan drug, of course.

It looks like Batman will be the next figure in the line, and if it’s a hit, then I hope we’ll see Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. And I think it’d be overkill to see Premium Format Figures of Bane, Killer Croc, and a Titan Joker – they’d be ginormous!

You can enter the Arkham Asylum Joker giveaway at Sideshow – it will be $449.99 when it goes up for pre-order tomorrow. If you’ve got the toy budget for it, I’d suggest getting in on it early – the Sideshow exclusive version will also have a swappable laughing portrait (shown above). Good luck!

Pre-Order Mezco Mortal Kombat X Series 2 – 10% Off Today Only

Sale coincides with launch of Mortal Kombat X video game

To celebrate the release today of the new Mortal Kombat X video game, Mezco is offering 10% off on pre-orders of their newly-announced Mortal Kombat X Series 2 6-inch action figure sets. The second series of Mortal Kombat X figures includes fan-favorite (haha!) Kitana, the malevolent Quan Chi, and newcomer Kotal Kahn.

Mezco will be making the figures available for pre-order starting at 10AM EST at the Mezco Toyz website, and for today only, they’ll be 10% off the regular price! If you haven’t already, you’ll also be able to pre-order Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Raiden from Mortal Kombat X Series 1.

I Am Your Fodder: Marvel Legends Edition

Marvel Legends Constrictor, Madame Masque, and Bucky Captain America on sale

I think most people would admit that Hasbro has hit its groove with Marvel Legends in terms of character selection and execution, but that still doesn’t mean they’re getting to all your favorites from the Marvel universe. Luckily, Amazon has a variety of Marvel Legends on sale that cover the basic body types for your customizing pleasure.

Marvel Universe Constrictor Figure 6 Inches – $7.90 – Hasbro said they would be retiring this body after its use on Iron Fist. I think the base figure has been unfairly maligned lately. While I think the newer hip style is better, and the thighs have seen better days, remember that this body was derived from the old Toy Biz Bullseye.
Marvel Universe Marvels Madames Action Figure Madame Masque, 6 Inches – $9.99 – This body saw a lot of use starting with the SHIELD Agent 2-packs. It’s not as curvy as the newer body used recently on Ms. Marvel, but there’s still a lot of characters that could benefit from the slimmer build.
Marvel Universe Captain America Figure 6 Inches – $11.80 – This is a go-to body for Hasbro now, and deservedly so. Bucky Cap is a great option for fodder if you don’t mind dealing with boot and glove cuffs. Machine Man at $17 is a completely blank base body, if you don’t mind spending a little more.

Weekend Toy Run: Funko Legacy Game of Thrones on Sale – Today Only

Are you ready for the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere this weekend? Entertainment Earth wants to make sure, offering 15% off of the Funko Legacy Game of Thrones figures, just for today. There’s eleven figures on sale, including all but the Hound from wave 1, so it’s a great time to fill those missing gaps in your collection. Most of the figures are armored up and ready to fight. As usual, poor Ned Stark is one of the exceptions – this guy just can’t catch a break.

Of course, if you need someone to push around Arya Stark or get thrashed by Brienne of Tarth, you can pick up the Hound at Amazon. And if you’re a full-on completionist, you can pick up the exclusive SDCC glow-in-the-dark White Walker from last year and the exclusive Walgreens Tyrion Lannister, both in the aftermarket on eBay but not that pricey. Valar morghulis, and happy shopping!
