Weekend Toy Run: Marvel Legends Captain America, Ms. Marvel, and Radioactive Man 3-Pack

Captain America® Marvel Legends Infinite Series Figure 3-Pack 02

Our good friend Paul gave us the heads up that the Target exclusive Captain America Marvel Legends Infinite Series Figure 3-Pack is in stock at Target.com. The 3-pack includes Cap (natch), Ms. Marvel on the heavy hitter female body, and Radioactive Man on the heavy hitter male body.

Cap is a reissue, but comes with both a masked and unmasked head. I also think the previous figure came with a vest, while this one has a harness.

ThreeA Toys Helloween to Feature Doctor Doom and More

3A Toys will be holding a Halloween sale again this year at Bambaland, and they’ll have a few treats for your goodie bags. First, they’re continuing the tradition of having a pumpkin-headed zombie available – this one will be a Charkin (the burnt variety compared to the yet to be in flames Zombkin) in the new 8-inch 3AGO / MEGO style. They will also introduce a new 1/6 line, called HEX,from new 3A designer Crystal Jade Vaughan.

Doctor Doom will also be available – three colorways have been revealed so far. Doom on Halloween? I guess the sorcery angle could explain it. Iron Man was pre-sold around Valentine’s Day – and you know, he’s got the bad heart. Holiday theme or just coincidence?

Video: Spoof Trailer for Avengers 2 is an Epic Mash-Up with Titanic’s My Heart Will Go On

I hope the uncanny way the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer aligns with Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On is not foreshadowing the kind of movie we’ll be seeing next summer. (Seriously, check out the lyrics as Cap is kicking in that door or while that mutant Scarlet Witch is screaming.)

Marvel Studios just might think that a historical romance drama could be the Marvel iceberg to finally sink Titanic and become the #2 movie in all-time box office history (the first Avengers movie came close). They might be right, but I think they will have a hard time picking the characters to be the star-crossed lovers.

Based on the trailer, I’m guessing it’s the Hulk and Iron Man whose love will be thwarted by Ultron. But MTV’s Shaunna Murphy ran the analysis and concluded it’s Thor and… everyone. She’s got the GIFs to prove it. What do you think? 😉

Get your first look at Ultron trying to tear apart Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the rest of the world in the first official teaser trailer for Marvel’s “Avengers: My Ultron Will Go On” in theaters May 1, 2015!

I do not own the rights to this work. This is purely a spoof. Enjoy.

Soapbox Sunday: Breaking Bad – When a Mom Protests Your Action Figures (Almost) Everybody Wins

Last week, a Florida mom petitioned Toys R Us to stop selling Breaking Bad action figures, using the tried and true family values argument. Nearly ten thousand people voiced their support, and then Toys R Us blinked. This helped fill out an otherwise uneventful news day (if you discount the news of Ebola landing on US soil) with a story that resonated widely by bringing together pop culture and human interest angles. The story was picked up by everyone from ABC News to Zimbio.

Mainstream media came out largely in support of the Florida mom and the actions taken by Toys R Us, and this prompted fans of the TV show and action figures to protest the protest. Action Figure Insider’s Daniel Pickett launched a counter-petition, keeping the story in the news cycle for another revolution. The petition to keep Breaking Bad on toy shelves has garnered over forty thousand signatures, but despite this, TRU has not reversed its actions. This leads me to today’s topic: who actually won this fight?

You might be surprised (if you already forgot the title of this article) – almost everyone comes out ahead.
