On Preview Night, Mattel showed us their Club Infinite Earths Black Mask and Poison Ivy production samples in 6 inches (we had seen them in 2-up format at Toy Fair). Earlier today, at their MattyPalooza panel, Mattel showed us the figures that would round out this year and kick off the subscription next year.

SDCC 2012: Mattel Announces DC Universe Watchmen Six-Figure Line

DC Universe Watchmen (1280x720).jpg

During Mattel’s MattyPalooza panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, they announced that the mystery line they had been teasing will be for a comics-based Watchmen line, to be exclusively offered on MattyCollector.com. There will be six figures, one every other month in 2013, starting with Rorschach and Doctor Manhattan. Square Enix is totally killing it when it comes to action figures for video games. With licenses for Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect 3, Tekken, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Kingdom Hearts, Arkham Asylum, and more, they’re marking their territory for super-articulated, 8-inch scale premium figures.

But watch out – they’re also making the move from the little screen to the big one. It was a natural jump from properties like Bayonetta to Cowboy Bebop, but they also teased the license for Superman: Man of Steel. It seems a more daunting task to take on the likeness of a real person than a computer generated image. I can’t wait to see what they do with it.

Hot Toys (3) (1280x853).jpg

Ready to get your mind blown? Hot Toys (via Sideshow Toys) had a number of 1/6 scale Batman vehicles on display, including the classic Batmobile from the 60’s show. I also snapped pics of a couple of Barney Ross figures from the Expendables, Metal Gear Solid, Batman, and Avengers figures.
