Warpo Toys Reveal Lovecraft and Giant Cthulhu Stretch Goals for Legends of Cthulhu Kickstarter

With two weeks remaining on their already-funded Legends of Cthulhu Retro Figures Kickstarter campaign, Warpo Toys has already received $100K in pledges, unlocking a translucent “conjured” Cthulhu and a high priest (a paint variant of the cultist) via two stretch goals. Now the fledgling toy makers have unveiled the two stretch goals that have yet to be achieved.

As Warpo shared with IGN, the remaining two stretch goals are H.P. Lovecraft himself (a head sculpt and paint variant of the Professor) unlocked at $140K pledges, and a 12-inch “Great Old One” version of Cthulhu unlocked at $200K. They’ve already said that the latter would be an add-on purchase, but if the pattern with the previous stretch goals holds, Lovecraft may be a free add-on to anyone pledging at the $90 level or up.

Warpo is asking fans to comment on the IGN article and to share the project via social media. Cthulhu commands it!

Marvel Legends Agent Venom Finds its Legs as Walgreens Exclusive

Hasbro continues to find ways to bring the Marvel Legends that have yet to find shelf space because of the switch to movie-themed waves this year (see the previous announcement of another wave of Previews exclusive X-Men Legends.)

With this announcement, they’ve revealed that the Flash Thompson Agent Venom will be a Walgreens exclusive. Not sure how pre-ordering at SDCC will work, but we’ll find out.

We are excited to confirm that Hasbro’s Marvel Spider-Man Legends Infinite 6″ Agent Venom Action Figure, previously revealed at Comic-Con International in San Diego last Summer, will be made available this Fall, exclusively at Walgreens in the U.S.

This figure will be available for pre-order next month at SDCC. Fans should visit Hasbro’s display booth during the show for more information.

Marvel Legends Infinite Series - Captain America wave 2.1

It’s time for another AFP Free Stuff giveaway! This time around, we’ve got the second wave of the Captain America Marvel Legends Infinite Series, which ironically ends with this wave. The prize will include all four figures in the wave, shipped loose: Black Widow, the Winter Soldier, and two versions of Cap. They’ll come with any extra heads, hands, and accessories, but will *not* have the SHIELD Mandroid build-a-figure parts. If you’re still looking for Mandroid parts, you can pick up the Captain America Marvel Legends Action Figures Wave 2 Rev. 1 at Entertainment Earth – EE will ship it for free in the US.

We’ll have one lucky winner this time around, and to keep it simple we’ll run the contest on Facebook. Here’s how:

Find the Facebook post for this article on the ActionFigurePics.com Facebook page. It will show up as “ActionFigurePics.com shared a link” with the Friday Freebie title below it. Like that post, add a comment, or share it – do all three if you like, and get three chances to win! And while you’re there, why don’t you give our Facebook page a like, too? Liking the Facebook page is not required to enter the giveaway, but it sure would be nice of you.

We’ll pick a winner next Friday, June 27. Good luck!

Four Days to Help October Toys’ Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter Hit Funding Target

With two other action figure campaigns running in parallel on Kickstarter, the Skeleton Warriors project by October Toys needs your help. With four days remaining in its campaign, they are about $14K and change away from hitting their $45K target. With Kickstarter projects, it’s all or nothing – if you don’t get enough pledges to hit your funding goal, the project does not move forward.

In case this is your first time hearing about the Skeleton Warriors, the proposed toys are a revival of the Skeleton Warriors cartoon from 20 years ago. The figures will be 3.75-inch scaled, the first of which will be super-tall Baron Dark, the skeleton big bad at 5-inches tall. The figures are Glyos-compatible, and there’s also special reward tiers that include an exclusive “Skeleden” – part skeleton, part Pheyden – designed by Matt Doughty of Onell Design.

The other two campaigns, Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. by Boss Fight Studio and Legends of Cthulhu by Warpo, have both surpassed their funding targets and are working on hitting stretch goals. So give October Toys a kick and let’s make it a trifecta for action figure projects on Kickstarter!

SDCC 2014: Diamond Select Toys Announces Days of Future Past Marvel Minimates Exclusives and More

Banking on the success of Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past hit movie, Diamond Select Toys have announced a comics-based Marvel Minimates boxed set for San Diego Comic-Con, featuring Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Mystique and a Sentinel. Great choices to tie in to the movie, but I don’t recall Mystique featuring prominently at all in the comic event – but then again she wasn’t being played by J-Law back then and like Wolverine, my memories can’t be trusted. DST is also making an accompanying comic book cover recreating Uncanny X-Men #141, available separately, featuring the Marvel Minimates in place of the comic book characters.

There usually are more Marvel Minimates exclusives during SDCC, and perhaps there are still more to come through DST’s distribution partners. DST also announced a Walking Dead Minimates set, a Sin City Marv exclusive figure, and more from Star Trek, Star Wars, Godzilla, and Jay and Silent Bob.  Just over a month to go. Are you getting excited yet for SDCC?
