Play Imaginative Reveals Super Alloy Diecast New 52 Superman

Play Imaginative Super Alloy New 52 Superman

Play Imaginative is taking steps to establish itself as serious competition to Hot Toys in the 1/6 scale superhero market. Although its Marvel Iron Man 1/6 scale figures will have to be imported to the states, they’ve made inroads with its DC license. Superman in his New 52 costume is the first figure revealed since they made a splash with the Super Alloy Jim Lee Batman. He comes with a heat vision alternate head, the overall articulation looks impressive, and the crystal base reminiscent of the Fortress of Solitude has an innovative feature – a fan to give his fabric cape a real-time windblown look.

Interestingly enough, the diecast feature of the Super Alloy line puts these figures at a premium over most Hot Toys. I wonder if they will develop a less expensive (but still high end) line.

Last Day to Enter Sideshow Darth Vader Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure Giveaway

Sideshow Preview Darth Vader Premium One Sixth Scale Figure

Sideshow Collectibles is holding a giveaway for its upcoming Darth Vader premium 1/6 scale figure. Vader will go up for pre-order tomorrow, but the contest entry period closes today.

I have not been able to access the Darth Vader photo gallery and pre-order info on the Sideshow Experience blog (the site throws an error) but people who have are saying the figure is expected in January 2014 and will be priced around $250. With the removable helmet and lights on the figure and base, I think this may be the one that brings me over to the Dark Side of 1/6 scale Star Wars figures.

Hasbro Kre-O Star Trek USS Enterprise Star Trek Into Darkness Connect With Pieces Puzzle Building Game

Did you see Star Trek Into Darkness yet? I just did (I know I’m late!) and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re not a Trek fan or your movie partner isn’t, no worries – my mom, who is definitely not a Trekkie, took me to see it and loved it!

In any case, IMAX is holding a Star Trek Into Darkness sweepstakes that includes a bunch of Trek gear, including the Hasbro KRE-O Enterprise ($49.99) and the NECA Star Trek Into Darkness Connect with Pieces puzzle ($12.99). If that’s not enough, the grand prize includes official uniforms, the Star Trek video game from Namco Bandai, and a bunch more.

It’s open until the end of the month, so enter the IMAX giveaway now. Continue reading “Win Star Trek Gear from Hasbro, NECA, and More from IMAX”

DC Collectibles Reveals San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives – USAToday.com

Black Hand, Dex-Starr, Arkillo and Sinestro - Green Lantern 4-pack

DC Collectibles revealed four exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con via USA Today. They found the Superman in the Aardman style ($24.95) most interesting, but the four-pack of Green Lantern characters in the 3.75-inch scale ($49.95) is what caught my eye. It’s got Sinestro in his Green Lantern costume, Arkillo from the Sinestro Corps, Black Hand, and the feline fiend from the Red Lantern Corps – Dex-Starr.

Also of note, Hugo Strange from Batman: Arkham City ($29.95) – the only other Hugo Strange I know of was back when DCC was still DC Direct, but that was just his head on a Batman figure. This will be the first time I’ve seen him in action figure form in something resembling his normal lab coat / doctor’s get-up. Rounding out the exclusives is a 3-pack of Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Girl in animated style ($49.95)
