Hasbro Shares Official Pics and Description for Star Wars Black Series San Diego Comic-Con Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite

Hasbro Star Wars Black Series SDCC Exclusive Boba Fett

Hasbro has released their official pictures and description for what should be one of their more popular exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con. On top of the packaged shots of the Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett that were revealed through USA Today, they’ve included pictures of the Boba Fett figure and his bounty, Han Solo frozen in carbonite. The new pics give us a closer look at the articulation setup on Boba. Of particular note, it looks like he’s got wrist hinges – allowing more natural two-handed poses with his Blas Tech EE-3 rifle.

I’ve had a chance to do more thinking about the $44.99 price, which seems a bit steep. At more than double the $19.99 price point that’s expected at retail for single figures in the Star Wars Black Series, it might be tempting to wait for his eventual re-release in the line. I’m fairly certain they will do this, most likely with the Return of the Jedi deco – there’s a precedent with the Marvel Legends Thor that launched the Return of Marvel Legends line.

This Changes Everything – Star Trek Select Parts are Interchangeable

SpockKirk

If you’ve been wavering about the poseability (or lack thereof) of the upcoming Star Trek Select action figures, this may help. Diamond Select Toys has posted that the parts that come with the Star Trek Select Kirk and Spock are interchangeable between figures. That includes the hands and lower torsos – my biggest gripe has been that the legs on these figures are static, but since you can swap between figures, that opens up a lot more posing options.

They also solved the mystery of why Spock comes with two Tricorders – one is open, and the other is closed. I do wonder why including two was more economical than including one that could just open and close, but I suppose the extra accessories will pay off if more crew members from the Original Series make it out in this line.

Hot Toys Announces the Jack Nicholson Joker (Mime Version) From Batman (1989)

Hot Toys Joker (Mime Version) 1

It seems like a long time since Hot Toys announced anything that wasn’t Iron Man related, so don’t be disappointed that this is not diecast or armor plated. While I’ve bought several Hot Toys figures from the Dark Knight series, I’ve resisted getting anything from the 1989 Michael Keaton version. Not that I disliked the movie – in fact, I loved it – but the aesthetic of the newer designs appeal to me more.

Still, I was tempted by the original Nicholson Joker, but this one seems to capture Nicholson a bit better.

Diamond Select Toys Reveals Star Trek Select Kirk Official Pics

With Iron Mania still sweeping through theaters, I’ve been missing toy hype for a little movie opening this weekend – Star Trek Into Darkness. Wait a minute – what do you mean, there are no toys? I guess that even with the blockbuster status attained by the Star Trek reboot four years ago (incidentally, you will get the Star Trek reboot as an iTunes download for free if you buy your Star Trek Into Darkness tickets on Fandango), toy companies and retailers have a long memory when it comes to under-performing toy lines.

Thank goodness for the Original Series, the Next Generation, and the rest of the Trek licenses that Diamond Select Toys holds. It means we have some Trek stuff to run this week! Here’s the official pics of the upcoming Star Trek Select Captain James T. Kirk. I’m glad to see new Star Trek figures from DST, but I still have a special place in my heart for the original, more poseable Star Trek figures, from back when they were from Art Asylum.

It’s Official – DC Comics Super Heroes UGLYDOLLS to Fly Off Shelves this Fall

UGLYDOLL Ice-Bat as Batman UGLYDOLL Babo as Superman

For the past couple of weeks, UGLYDOLL co-creator David Horvath has been posting pictures of his UGLYDOLL plush characters Ice-Bat and Babo as Batman and Superman on his Facebook page. Now it’s official, with Pretty Ugly and Warner Bros. announcing the collaboration.

When we first posted about the DC Ugly Dolls, we had also found that Diamond had already included the assortment in Previews. I’m guessing now that the assortment, which is listed on Urban Collector for about $140, consists of 6 plush figures, putting them at about $23 and change, which is in line with the press release. Also of note, Funko will be making vinyl figures of the DC Ugly Dolls that will hit in 4th quarter this year, right in time for the holidays.
