The Amazing Spider-Man and the Dark Knight Launch New Super-Articulated 1/12 Action Figure Line from Medicom

Medicom has had modest success with its 1/6 scale Real Action Hero line but they are now looking to turn the 1/12 scale on its head with its new MAFEX line of action figures, as highlighted in this blog post at AmiAmi.com. Featuring super-articulation, great sculpts, and accessories, these figures promise to be the best in class in 6 inches (6.3 inches to be precise) – sorry Hasbro and Mattel! Of course these are going to be import figures only, for those of us in the US – so you shouldn’t be expecting mass market action figure prices either.

These are available to pre-order now on the AmiAmi.com site:

At 2,820 JPY, they are roughly $36 and change each, not including overseas shipping. They’re listed with an expected April 2013 release date.

Spy Monkey Creations Reveal the Weaponeers of Monkaa

The build-up to Spy Monkey Creation’s announcement of the Weaponeers of Monkaa has wrapped up and at PowerCon they unveiled the action figure line. Ever since talking to Brian Stevenson at SDCC I’ve been looking forward to seeing the figures. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it down south, but I’m glad Spy Monkey posted pics on their websites. Action figures, weapons packs, and alternate heads – with Glyos compatibility, this should be a fun line for both Glyos builders and fans of the Weaponeers story line.

The Weaponeers go on sale October 1st at the Spy Monkey Creations website.

Transforming Collections Toy Reference Book – Picture Candidates and Quick Update

About two weeks ago I posted about the Transforming Collections Toy Reference Book project on Kickstarter. Philip Reed, who is the man behind this book about third party add-ons for your Transformers, has been stopping by the various toy communities (for instance, check out his appearances on the WTF@TFW podcast and the CollectionDX video podcast) and is now on the verge of hitting his stretch target of adding four more pages to the book.

I asked him if he had made any decisions as to what pictures he’s going to include in the book. He told me not quite yet, but sent along five candidates. The project has already hit its initial funding target, so the book will get made. But it’s only going to be available through Kickstarter, so get your pre-order in now! Any additional pledges now will go towards stretch goals, which include additional pages, stickers, and even the potential to switch to hardcover. Just under two weeks to go!
