DC Universe Classics Wave 19 Revealed – MTV Geek Exclusive

Our friends at MTV Geek have got an exclusive first look at DC Universe Classics Wave 19 – the JSA wave!

Wave 19 will feature classic Wesley Dodds Sandman, Al Pratt Atom, Carter Hall Hawkman, Lord Naga from Kobra, Magog, Stargirl, and the Collect & Connect STRIPE.

Be sure to click through to MTV Geek for the full-size images and bios for each character.

Lately DCUC has featured themed lineups, to many a fan’s aggravation as they patiently wait to complete their various classic teams. While the upcoming Wave 19 is themed as well, it features mostly classic interpretations of the Justice Society of America and their villains. That’s right, a JSA wave – and we’ve got both the first pics AND the complete bios for all of the figures in the lineup, including a shot of the Collect & Connect figure: S.T.R.I.P.E.!

Jazwares Mortal Kombat Press Pics

Our friends at Jazwares have sent us some shots of their upcoming 6-inch figures from the Mortal Kombat 9 video game released a month ago today. Look for these on shelves this summer.

We have a ton of figures planned, this is just the beginning…

Included are:

  • #13211 Sub-Zero
  • #13212 Raiden
  • #13213 Johnny Cage
  • #13216 Scorpion

The figures will be available this summer and we will have a Toys-R-Us Comic Con exclusive! I am waiting for permission to release more information.

We are also asking the fans on our Facebook page to tell us their favorite MK characters so we make sure we make them. I’ve heard some rumors and read the blogs… I can tell you that we are currently sculpting Sonya Blade!

DC Universe Classics Wave 17 Carded Pics

Mattel has posted carded pics of DC Universe Classics wave 17, the Rainbow Lantern wave, on its Facebook page, and sets of DC Universe Classics 17 have started hitting eBay. I am really curious to see how these sell – when the rumors of this wave first hit, the reaction was the most mixed I’ve seen in the collector community.

Personally, I think I would have liked a third wave of Green Lantern Classics. There’s plenty of Lanterns that could benefit from existing tooling who have had a bigger presence in the comics than these characters – but I do think DC missed an opportunity for some interesting follow-on stories, had the Scarecrow and Lex kept their deputy rings.

DC Universe Classics Swamp Thing Articulation Pics

Mattel has updated their Facebook page with pics of the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Swamp Thing, showing its articulation.

I think these show that range of motion will be hampered by the outer skin. I’d still like to know if there will be any underlying swivels, like in the biceps, wrists, and thighs – but I’m guessing even if those points of articulation are there, they won’t be much use. I think I would have preferred they gone with a more standard approach to this figure.

Info from Gimbat’s 3A Daily News Thread. I have been psyched for the 1/12 scale Dropcloth and Popbot, but I had not yet seen anything on a 1/12 Tomorrow King 4-Pack. That might be hard to pass up, if I can get my hands on a set.

SDCC 2011 exclusives by 3A toys, featuring DW&NW WWRp Heavy Brambles, Action Portables TK Unleashed 4pack, WWRp Slaughterhouse DC and Action Portable Ascended Popbot. SO MUCH COOL STUFF!
