Masters of the Universe Classics Webstor – thefwoosh.com

TheFwoosh scores again, with an early look at the next figure coming out for Masters of the Universe Classics, Webstor.  Unlike VeeBee, I never had a Webstor figure when I was a kid, and I don’t really remember him from the cartoon.  Don’t hold that against me.

He does have the distinction of having his original action figure come out the same year as Jitsu, way back in 1984.  And like Jitsu, Webstor didn’t get re-released in the 200X Masters line, but did get some love as a Staction from the Four Horsemen and NECA.  All I’m saying is, when is this travesty going to end?

Mattel, give us a Jitsu already! 😀

Webstor goes on sale on September 15 on Mattycollector.com.

baddies

I know a lot of people are big fans of the 200x Webstor redesign, and with good cause – I think it was one of the strongest re-imaginations. I am a classic-head though, so even though Webstor is one of my favorites, I never owned the Staction. This figure was worth waiting for though, and not to fear 200x, as you have seen, the extra arms on his back are a great homage to the modern design without sacrificing the overall classic feel.

San Diego Comic-Con DC Direct Hal Jordan Exclusives – OAFE

I would have loved to bring you this review of the five DC Direct Hal Jordans, but with the craziness of San Diego Comic-Con on top of the craziness of how this exclusive was sold, there was no way.  OAFE’s Rustin Parr has some great pics of them (I really like what they did with the packaging) as well as a few choice words for DC Direct.

Each figure uses the same base body as the “classic” Green Hal, but with minor sculptural variances so it is effectively a repaint of the Superman/Batman Series 6 figure (though with a new torso, as that figure had a hole in the chest for translucent Lantern symbol projection).

The figure is an excellent example of the high caliber of sculpting DC Direct is known for.

DC Universe Classics Wave 10 – AFi

Our friends at ActionFigureInsider received an early set of the Wal-Mart exclusive wave of DC Universe Classics.  They’ve just published pics of Beast Boy, Forager, Power Girl, and Robotman.

Many more pictures in their Toy Archive.

Cosmic Odyssey update: another one bites the dust with Forager! 😀  John Stewart is coming, but where oh where is Martian Manhunter?

Just this week you saw the carded images of Wave 10 of Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line on Matty’s Facebook page as well as here on AFi.

Now we have Wave 10 in hand and can show you the full photo features on each figure in this upcoming Walmart exclusive wave. We’re going to break this wave up into two parts.

Marvel Universe 2010 Wave 1 Press Pics

Marvelous News has posted press pics of the first wave of of Marvel Universe due in 2010.  With this series, Hasbro is shifting the Marvel Universe theme from Nick Fury and SHIELD to Normal Osborne and HAMMER, following the Dark Reign story line currently underway in Marvel Comics.  The numbering scheme will begin at #1 again, as this will be the “2nd edition” of Marvel Universe.

Getting a Jim Lee Jean Grey and Sunfire in Marvel Universe is sure to raise the hackles of Legends collectors who have been clamoring for those characters in 6-inches – to me, this demonstrates the commitment of the Hasbro Marvel team to make Universe the best it can be.  The Logan in the X-Men training outfits was not shown in the main showcase display at San Diego Comic-Con, but we did manage to find him in the large Marvel Universe diorama.  At the show, Hasbro said that the figure was just a prototype and hadn’t been slotted into a wave yet.

I’m not a big fan of Hasbro’s heavily manipulated press shots.  For a better look, check out the pictures from our San Diego Comic-Con coverage.

DC Universe Classics Wave 10 Packaged Pics

Mattel has updated its Facebook page with packaged pics of wave 10 of DC Universe Classics, which is exclusive to Wal-Mart.  I was wondering how they were able to get Power Girl and her prodigious cleavage into the family-friendly juggernaut retailer, and I wonder if her sideways packaged stance is by Wal-Mart’s request.
